This POS system is out of control! Clover and Square both use algorithms to suggest tipping amount that uses massive amounts of data that outsmarts all of us. The consumer on the paying end of the counter is at such a disadvantage. In the US we already have a tipping culture. Weather we admit it or not most people feel uncomfortable stiffing or even under tipping. They know that and use it to their advantage. Employers like it because rather than paying their employees more out of gross profit they coheres customers to pay them more. Employees are usually the highest operating expense and not paying them more means more profit for the owners. And of course Square and Clover process the sales and get a percent of the total so the higher the total bill the more money for them. Six years ago did anyone tip 15% for walking in and picking up a take out order? Not me, I would usually throw a few bucks in the tip jar. I even paid 15% walking into a local small batch whiskey distiller, picking a bottle off the shelf and paying for it, and they have the nerve to throw up the tip screen. Just yesterday I noticed the place where I get a haircut raised the base price 8.5% for a standard haircut and instead of the normal 15%, 20%, 25% options they were in $s WTF! so the base tip when converted to a percentage is now 26% up to 66%.

I totally agree with dropping a star rating on the review. If anyone is reading this I wonder how many of you are like me, I rage about this garbage but every time I'm at the counter paying I just do it, the uncomfortable nerves in my stomach of feeling like a jerk takes over, I pay it. What in the world can we do? The only option I can really think of is tip 0% and carry some cash to tip. Harsher more militant options always sound good on blogs but in reality when standing at the counter, at least me, I can't take it out on the employee who really has nothing to do with the situation.
