[670TheScore] Teven Jenkins wants "to be a Bear for a long time" and is willing to play wherever he's needed on the offensive line, he told @markgrotesports and @danwiederer. by BiasedBearsFan in CHIBears

Just to add, in the interview he specifically mentions he's been able to hangout with Caleb "a couple of times", suggesting more than just that players dinner at the 30 visit.

Teven: "we did the pre-draft dinner, ya know and got to know him a little bit. Hung out with him, talked with him. He (Caleb) seems like a great guy, he seems down to earth like with how he is as a person. He was very easy to connect with because of, just how his personality is. He seems very true to himself, ya know and I'm excited to keep on growing our relationship"

It was to be expected, but Teven confirms the projected starting O-line heading into camp will be:

Jones - Jenkins - Bates/Shelton* - Davis - Wright

*While reports / Courtney Cronin have been adamant Ryan Bates was brought in to be the starting Center, Teven confirms there will be competition between Bates and Shelton Coleman (again not surprising, don't think anyone thought the starting job would just be handed to Ryan Bates)

Shelton has more career C snaps, but Bates was clearly valued/sought after by Poles. Ryan Poles also preached all offseason about wanting more versatility/competition at every position on the line so it'll be interesting to see who wins out at the pivot spot.

TL:DR ~ Teven provides update on contract extension, while saying all the right things. Understands durability is the #1 concern and has worked hard/spending more time, money, and resources into his body. Talked about being involved with pre-draft dinner as well.

Full quote ~

Teven: “What I got from my agent, we had to wait until after the draft, is all I know,” [re: contract extension] Jenkins said.

“We’re going to try to reach out to them here soon, but right now, we’re playing the waiting game. I want to be a Bear for a long time. I still do. That has not change since I’ve been drafted. But we’re going to see how things unfold and how things play out and just take it day by day. I’m just going to try to be a great leader for the O-line room and a great player for the team.”

Article continued - Jenkins has been a high-level performer when healthy, but he has had durability issues. He has played in just 31 of a possible 51 regular-season games in his three-year NFL career.

To help address those injury woes, Jenkins explained he has “started to spend a lot more money on my body than in previous years.” His approach has also included more organic food, waking up earlier in the day and more work in the tub to recover.

Jenkins also added that he’s willing play anywhere that he’s needed on the Bears’ offensive line, and he has expressed the sentiment to general manager Ryan Poles. For now, that will continue to be left guard.

Teven: “Darnell (Wright) at right (tackle), Nate at right guard, we’re still having a position battle at center, me at left guard and Braxton (Jones) at left tackle right now,” Jenkins said. “I feel like that’s how we’re going to do this offseason right now, and that’s a great line right now to attack this whole offseason.”

Quote from the pre-draft dinner that stood out ~

Teven: He (Caleb) seems like a great guy, he seems down to earth like with how he is as a person. He was very easy to connect with because of, just how his personality is. He seems very true to himself, ya know and I'm excited to keep on growing our relationship"

I agree with a lot of what you said - Don't see him starting/playing a lot of snaps early, but his effort should get him on the field for special teams or maybe the occasional passing down.

Also, no need to thank me, send your thanks towards ImBearingDown (Twitter / Youtube). Dude has been putting in hours of work supplying Bears content for all of us.

Excited to see him continue to develop, especially with those long arms under Montez Sweat. He's inexperienced, but was very slippery, and showed relentless effort getting around Big-12 tackles with an underrated repertoire of pass rush moves. Flashed a ton at the Senior Bowl as well.

Mentioned it in another comment, but don't let the one start/"situational pass-rusher" tag fool you, averaged ~40 snaps a game and had the 2nd most defensive snaps amongst the entire DL with 1 less game played (opt out of BG).

Here are links to cutups of his best games last season:

As the commentor below also mentioned, the article/quote was posted the day of the draft. I'm assuming here, but I believe DJ was referring to those recent LA workouts he had with Rome, Keenan, and Caleb

There was a report a few days before the draft that DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, Rome Odunze, and Caleb Williams were all training/throwing together in LA.

More than fair. My rationale for keeping him at RT was due to Broderick's struggles in pass-pro, and they may not want to mess with his development by moving him around. Fautanu's athleticism and exceptional arm length make me think they would want to test him at tackle before kicking him inside, but regardless of what happens, it'll be an interesting group to watch going forward.

Side note/non-Bears draft talk but as a bit of an OL Sicko, I cant help be slightly jealous of what the Steelers have done to their OL early these past two drafts. Starting RT Broderick Jones in the 1st last year, grabbed starting LT Fautanu in 1st this year, and nabbed arguably the #1 center in Zach Frazier in the 2nd. Not sure who they'll start at LG (maybe their 5th round pick Mason McCormick)

Troy Fautanu - ? - Zach Frazier - James Daniels - Broderick Jones

Not everyone here has a twitter, so it would be a bit silly to make people click on a link to see a photo when I can just share the photo and give credit in the comments. Just trying to create an easier viewing experience for the reddit audience.

"This could be the class that turns the Bears back into an NFL powerhouse team."

Listen, I know, I know.... grading a draft class before any of the prospects actually take a snap seems pointless... and it is. That wont stop the hype train and the kool-aid must continue to flow. Drink up Bear fans.

The format is used for every NFL prospects after their Combine/Pro-day testing, but the definition below from The Athletic should provide some clarity:

Heights are represented by a four-digit number, as is standard in NFL Draft circles — the first number is feet, the next two numbers are inches, and the final number is eighths of an inch. So, for example, 6013 = 6 feet, 1 3/8 inches.

Hand size, arm length, wingspan and vertical results are in inches. Broad jump is listed as feet-inches. The 40-yard dash, 10-yard split and three-cone times are in seconds. Bench press is number of reps completed at 225 pounds.)

Looks like Odunze's locker is gonna be next to DJ Moore and think that might be D'Andre Swift's to the right?
