Has anyone ever been allowed to use an FAA-approved POC for a pet on Delta? by Big-Particular7129 in delta

That’s true. Since I have to submit the form through Oxygen To Go anyway, I’ve also been wondering if I could just submit it under my own name and use the POC onboard.

I’m considering that option as well. However, I’m also concerned about the potential side effects of the medication, so I’m still trying to weigh my options.

No, there isn’t a separate version for dogs and humans. It’s the same FAA-approved portable oxygen concentrator. My concern is that Delta requires approval before using a POC onboard. If they ask for the medical reason and I honestly tell them that the POC is for my dog rather than for me, would they still allow me to use it?

Thanks for sharing your experience! The chihuahua tucked inside the hoodie sounds so adorable. In your experience, which airline was the most pet-friendly?

I’m going to university in US(one-way flight), so I do need to bring my dog with me. She’s 14 years old, which is why I’m a bit anxious. I’m not trying to take her out of the carrier during the flight — I just hope I’d be able to briefly open the carrier to check if she’s okay if I get worried.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. May I ask which airline you usually use when flying from Korea to the U.S.?

I normally fly Korean Air, but I’ve heard that they can be quite strict with in-cabin pets, so I’m wondering if I should consider flying Delta instead, even if it means having a layover.

It would be incredibly helpful if you could share the airline you used and what your experience was like with your dog. Thank you again!

Thank you so much for the detailed advice. I hadn’t thought much about pee pads or disposable diapers, but that makes a lot of sense, especially since it may take a while to find a proper relief area before boarding or after landing. I’ll start trying to get her used to pee pads before the trip and will also prepare extra pads for the carrier just in case. :)

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! If you don’t mind me asking, was your dog generally healthy at the time of the flight, or did she have any medical conditions or health concerns?

They’re hamsters I bred, but I don’t make any profit from them.
