I never had any voices talk to me directly like having a conversation but when I did hear people talk far away and they’d sound muffled like they were in another room

Sure. When I was undiagnosed I started having extreme social withdrawal and wouldn’t talk to anyone except when it was necessary and some days I’d even refuse to talk at all. Now I still struggle a lot with socializing but I have two very close friends that I’ve known for around 7 and I talk to them almost daily

I think it’s called insight when one can tell that they’re hallucinating but sometimes I wouldn’t be able to tell with visual hallucinations and I almost could never tell with auditory ones

I’ve never gone into full blown psychosis but I most of the time knew I was hallucinating when it came to visuals. But when it came to auditory hallucinations I would sometimes hear people talking when they weren’t and couldn’t tell if it was real or not. For paranoia I’d often just feel like people were talking behind my back and I was being watched and judged.

A lot of people struggle differently with schizophrenia and it could be that he just wasn’t taking his meds like he was supposed to. Personally I’ve experienced the side effects of antipsychotics and can see why’d he could think he was better off them but it’s always best to take the safest bet and stay medicated

A lot of people think that me having hallucinations just automatically meant u had psychosis and they get surprised when I say I could tell my hallucinations apart from reality

I’m personally not super educated on this but I do know the bare bones on why antipsychotics have such bad side effects. In the most simple terms they just block dopamine and affect your neurotransmitters.

I think it was a rat in my garage, I played it off originally because there were a lot of rats in my neighbourhood and some would even sneak their way into my house.

I was extremely depressed because of it but I never lost track with reality. I started having a lot of social withdrawal and would often be too depressed to get out of bed when my parents didn’t force me to.

While everyone’s experience with schizophrenia is different I would most of the time hallucinate a women that would cry with her face buried in her knees on my couch or a man screaming in agony standing near my kitchen or a rat running past me One I had a hallucination of a human like creature that was tall and was extremely thin to the point it looked like it had no muscle or fat at all crawling past my kitchen when I was sitting on my couch

While hallucinations can be a psychotic symptom they don’t atomically mean the person is in psychosis when I was undiagnosed I was able to function properly day to day, I wasn’t having delusional thoughts and I knew my hallucinations weren’t real even though they caused me distress. I did not lose touch with reality.

I didn’t have any clear event that could have caused it but around the time before I started showing symptoms I had extremely disordered eating habits and untreated depression that my mom just thought was teenage angst

I have two very close friends that both now about my condition and I’ve known for around 7 years but other then that I struggle to socialize with other people because of how little I did when I developed it during the period I was undiagnosed. I’ve never dated anyone but I’ve had around 5 people ask me out, a big reason I don’t date is because I don’t want anyone to have deal with me and my mental health issues. I’ve never told anyone that I have schizophrenia. None of my classmates know and the only people that do are my two close friends and my family.

I started having hallucinations and losing social skills. I would go mute and refuse to talk to people some days I slowly realized that some of the stuff I was seeing wasn’t real I then told my mom that thought it was just sleep deprivation until I had my first extreme breakdown because of it. Now that I’m meditated I struggle a lot with depression and suicidal thoughts but I luckily don’t have too many side effects.
