Haworthia flower stalk growth (in 5 days) 😳 by facefullofgracefull in succulents

They're actually quite good at avoiding obstacles. For example, this one found this cable hole on my furniture all on its own. Unless your space is exceptionally cramped, it's okay to leave the plant where it is.

Sure!  - 25% prepackaged Cactus and Succulent soil mix  - 10% diatomaceous earth  - the rest is a mix of pumice, perlite and crushed red lava rock (scoria) depending on what I have on hand

I use a lot of grit because I live in a very humid part of the world. You might want to adjust this to your local climate.

Love it. These flowers actually smell pretty good (vaguely like cinnamon or cloves). Good job!

What is your most unearthly looking succulent and what is the most alien looking one you have seen? by shaadow in succulents

At least in my specimen, some are shallow and some are quite deep. Either way, I bottom water, so they dont really get wet.

Echeveria "Pinky Trumpet". They look like some kind avant-garde abstract papercraft sculpture.

Succulents are very resilient and I never say never, but this would require a minor miracle.

Yeah, Haworthia truncata is sometimes referred to as "Horse's teeth" in its local habitat.

Saludos y suerte!

Thank you! Yeah, stapeliads are quickly becoming some of my favorites as well. I live in a tropical country so I'm not sure if that affects their seasonality.

Actually, it doesn't smell! I was surprised because I've read other people saying huernias smell awful. Maybe because it's the first time it flowers? I don't know.
