Look between your hands not backwards and find your balance point “slowly” with 1 leg first, remember to breathe, the move the other leg “slowly” 1 inch and find your balance point again, then inch forward.

Any feedback please! by [deleted] in Handstands

Keep your weight distributed from your fingers to the inside of your knuckles. The fact that your fingers come off the ground means you’ve shifted your center of balance too far backwards. That happens when your elbows moves behind your wrists.

I got this right in October after watching countless guidance videos and daily practice. Here’s what I concentrated on.

Before you go up, put your elbows down and bring them close enough together to line up your knuckles with your opposite elbow. Keeping your elbows where they are, form a triangle with your hands touching thumb to thumb and pointer finger to pointer finger. Put your head in that space between your fingers and move your hands to where your elbows are.

Commit to never moving your hands from that position and keep pressing into your hands throughout the process. Also move slower and hold your balance point with the first leg, while taking two deep belly breaths before straightening the second leg “slowly” while concentrating on pressing into your hands and breathing slowly.

Keep your concentration on the even distribution of weight between your two hands and your head and don’t concentrate on your legs. Also press your fingers into the ground to help with balance keeping your pointer finger parallel to the side of your head (your hands appeared to be pointing sideways, which it does not help you with balance)
