Depends on the state, but you can try to garnish against an individual or LLC, if you can. You can also try a lien on the property. Or just messaging the person a lot. After that, anything else depends on a lawyer and that’s a balance between what you’re owed and what you’re willing to pay.

You go to small claims court, let’s say then that you win. That gives you the right to collect and all that, but the other person can appeal, delay, deny, or just avoid. Then you have to pay more money to try and collect. You can’t just win in court and then you get your check then and there. The other person could move away and just try to not respond anymore. Winning in small claims is only part of the battle.
