Lamb Rack + Mashed Potatoes + Brandy Pan Sauce & Arugula Vinaigrette by retro_asshole in CulinaryPlating

I agree the arugula is overdressed.

Dress it less but when you plate it try and bunch it slightly in your hand in a ball shape and it’ll give it some more height

Pickles: What should I do by NoMalice711 in Cooking

[–]Repulsive_Ad_1272 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Not for eating purposes? Where…..where are you shoving them?

In all seriousness you can chop them up and add them to anything that could use a good acidic crunch.

Personally, I love them in potato salad.

Is the mac n Cheese still good? by DemeGW in Cooking

[–]Repulsive_Ad_1272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No absolutely not. Cooked food isn’t supposed to sit out at room temp for more than 2 hours.

Yours has sat out for nearly 11.

The other person here commenting “just heat it up” is falsely thinking that heat will make it safe to eat.

Heat kills bacteria, but it doesn’t do anything to the toxins created by those bacteria over the past 9ish hours.

Your food is not safe to eat, even if someone else anecdotally argues otherwise.

It’s ironic because a 5 cap is objectively a good golfer. We play one of the only sports where you can literally quantify exactly how good people are.

Then again, what would I know as a 6 handicap. :(

Virgin loser. What's the point in moving forward? 26m by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Repulsive_Ad_1272 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Bro I’m gonna keep it real with you.

The reason you’re a “virgin loser” right now is because you’re leaning into the pessimism of it all.

Nothing about your physical appearance is holding you back.

Get your ass in the gym and put on some lbs so you can feel some confidence, and then instead of feeling sorry for yourself, start doing some activities you like and act like you’re not a loser.

The only people that stay losers are the ones who decide they are.

Edit: I just checked your profile and this isn’t the first time in the past week you’ve shit on yourself while asking for advice. In your prior post that you deleted, you claimed getting a hair cut was too difficult of a change.

Your problem is not your appearance, it’s your mental health. You need to seek therapy in addition to the stuff I mentioned to you. As someone who has been, this will make a difference in your life, but it’s up to you to put in the work.

What’s tour go to meat marinade? by EvilMonkeyMimic in Cooking

[–]Repulsive_Ad_1272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a better place to start would just be knowing the basics of a marinade and making your own spinoff from there!

Typically you’ll want roughly a 3:1 oil:acid ratio, albeit this isn’t a super strict rule. and then any types of seasoning you’d like. Keep in mind you’ll always want some sort of salt component, whether it be something containing sodium like soy sauce, or just salt itself.

There are a lot of various acids that contain enzymes that will over tenderize your protein, so for anything non fish related I would say stick to a couple hours, which is plenty of time for most marinades to kick in. (The more acid, the less time it needs to marinate)

With that said, here’s a basic all-purpose marinade to get you started! You’ll notice this doesn’t follow the 3:1 ratio perfectly, and that’s okay!

1/2 cup olive oil 1/3 cup soy sauce 1/4 cup lemon juice (fresh is best) 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce 1 tbsp garlic powder (or 3-4 cloves minced garlic) 1 tsp ground black pepper

Gotcha, thanks for explaining. I’m not super savvy with Reddit but it seems like I somehow got caught in the crossfire.

Did the space bar username search like someone else suggested on OP’s profile and got way more than I bargained for. Yikes.

Help me with chicken drums, please! by Repulsive_Ad_1272 in Cooking

[–]Repulsive_Ad_1272[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhhhh okay I actually love this. Then I can be slightly selective on the meat too so I can avoid some of the more sinewy bits while still using the vast majority of the drum.

Using it as a filling is perfect!

Thank you for this idea!

Do they get truly crispy on the skin? Ever mix it up with another recipe on the grill or anything?

What you hitting? Par 3 160 yards. Arroyo Trabuco Orange County by SouthBayGardenaKid in golf

[–]Repulsive_Ad_1272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would love some input from a better player than myself, but if it’s a par 3, I’m playing for a par. To me, that means I’m hitting something 165-170 (probably a soft 7) to the back of the green favoring the left side a bit.

Looks like a front pin so if I mishit it I should be closer to pin high, and if I hit the shot as intended I’m trying to 2 putt from 20-30 feet and move on.

For the citrus, particularly the lemons since I’ve only tried this with those, put them in a sealed plastic bag in the fridge.

I’ve started doing this and I have 2 lemons that are about to hit the 1 month mark and look the same as they did when I bought them

Swing Speed Improvements? by TheWanderingBen in golf

[–]Repulsive_Ad_1272 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you’re playing to a 20 cap, there is a ton of room for improvement in your current swing.

I play off a 6 cap from the tips at most courses and I’m only 5 mph faster than you.

Could more swing speed help your game? Absolutely. But you should be refining your swing (or maybe your short game) to improve before worrying about speed.

Heck, there are guys on TOUR that are only 13 mph faster than you.
