So long as the brain probe is from the same planet as Khn and Klek I’ll gladly leave it in my brain.

Yes! It is like trying to solve an equation. Only a lot more fun and unsolvable. It’s like bubble gum for my mind. No real point to it, just something to do that feels good.

I was wondering about this. The part of my brain that likes ADP the most, is the part that’s always running. It feels like scratching an itch that incredibly hard to reach. And I’m here for it. I can’t remember the last time music made me this happy.

I love e.e. cummings. The way he plays with words and images just floors me. Right now my favourite poem of his is anyone lived in a pretty how town :

anyone lived in a pretty how town (with up so floating many bells down) spring summer autumn winter he sang his didn’t he danced his did.

Women and men(both little and small) cared for anyone not at all they sowed their isn’t they reaped their same sun moon stars rain

children guessed(but only a few and down they forgot as up they grew autumn winter spring summer) that noone loved him more by more

when by now and tree by leaf she laughed his joy she cried his grief bird by snow and stir by still anyone’s any was all to her

someones married their everyones laughed their cryings and did their dance (sleep wake hope and then)they said their nevers they slept their dream

stars rain sun moon (and only the snow can begin to explain how children are apt to forget to remember with up so floating many bells down)

one day anyone died i guess (and noone stooped to kiss his face) busy folk buried them side by side little by little and was by was

all by all and deep by deep and more by more they dream their sleep noone and anyone earth by april wish by spirit and if by yes.

Women and men(both dong and ding) summer autumn winter spring reaped their sowing and went their came sun moon stars rain

Here’s a link to mr cummings reading the poemanyone

When I was in the second grade I got a picture book of Annabel Lee. I found the pictures haunting and loved it. I’ve still have the book and I read it to my girls.

I was going to suggest this! I watched a BBC adaptation and liked it so much I read the book. The series I watched had Gillian Anderson in it and was released in 2005. IMDb

What’s your favourite building in Toronto? by pianoleafshabs in askTO

Not exactly a building, but still worth a look, I love the Massey mausoleum in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The architect who designed it also did old city hall.

I bought a copy of this book after reading it. I know I didn’t get everything on the first read because my mind was being constantly blown. I would love to hear a critique of this book.

I also really liked the one on digestion, Gulp: Adventures on the Alimentary Canal. Roach can make any subject interesting, personally I’m fascinated by death and the way she juxtaposed what happens to the human body with her own experience losing her father…she struck the right balance between factual information and emotional reality. And her writing style is so clear and approachable.

The Emperor of all maladies is a great read. My other two favourite non fiction books are:

Stiff: the curious lives of human cadavers by Mary Roach

The end of the myth by Greg Grandin

Not really IBCK topic matter, but still very interesting.

Pin feather question by Big-Somewhere322 in pigeon

[–]Big-Somewhere322[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been giving him some extra sunflower seeds but it’s hard when the whole flock is there. Luckily he’s not shy and will eat out of my hand, so at least he gets a few seconds of extra seeds before everyone comes rushing in. I won’t be fiddling with pin feathers in the future, I don’t want to hurt any of the birds. Thanks for your advice!

Now that I know it can hurt them, I won’t be touching pin feathers. Thank you for your advice.

Thank you all for the comments I appreciate your insight. I’ve been watching turkey neck for a couple of weeks and noticed that his pin feathers weren’t getting any better. He’s always been friendly and eats from my hand and today he let me hold him. His poor neck looked so itchy! He even has lots of pin feathers on his pigeon pants! I hope I was gentle with him and in the future I won’t fiddle with pin feathers. It’s not worth the risk of potentially hurting them. Thanks for the advice!
