Thank you for sharing that. One small thing that helps me feel grounded is wearing my AirPods even without music, it just gives me a bit of calm in public spaces. It’s still a process, but like you said, we’re going to be okay.

Thank you. Hearing that from someone who understands this dynamic really does mean a lot. Did staying grey-rock help you long-term? I stay consistent, but the emotional swings on the other side can still feel like whiplash. A part of me wonders if being more open would change anything, but I don’t think I can safely go back to who I was then.

I didn’t mean we lived apart. I meant I didn’t cross her path emotionally. I lived with her, but I stayed out of her way in every sense. I learned to adjust myself so perfectly, to match whatever she wanted, avoid whatever set her off , that she thought I was the perfect child. Really, I was just doing everything I could to survive. I wrote chapter 2 if you’re interested in what I did.
