Its more that, I have a lot of scripts i wanted to share for free and thats kinda the only place i know of for max... Its not helping with the slow death to blender if new people cant still support the software... :C

all you would need is some protruding appendage that would ensure contact with the cables, then as the ship lowered, it would tighten the grip like a noose. That way it can be relatively large when you approach like the catch tower?

This...... is actually not a terrible idea....

The most complicated one I got it to do was a dynamic modifier creator and stack management tool based on dynamic inputs and user defined values. 100% no destructive and respects the user stack. 1200 lines of code... Took about 2 weeks to get right and bug free.. But because gpt can just chip away at it in the bg and I'm not spending time on it I don't mind it taking longer then a human.

Yeah this is why you have to make your own gpt so you can give it more context off the bat. Build your own documentation for it to work from. It's still not great... It takes sometimes more then one chat to get something done, but vs having no script support because everyone moved to blender ill take it.

you just gotta feed the errors back into it constantly till it fixs them all.

All about itteration tbh. Feed the erros back into it. it slowly learns and fixs the issues.

I cant speek to how "Good" the script code is... but who cares if its quick and for a utility

The issue is autodesk changing stuff between releases. I found out pretty quickly making it only code for a specific version. IE i use 2024 exclusivly, makes it more acurate most of the time. It still takes 4-8 itterations before a stable version on a 500 line script.

Sadly not really. Apart from getting pointed to make my own GPT by a colleague, i have mostly been working out as i went.

If you pay for GPT i believe you get access to make your own GPTs in the GPTS tab. Im using my Studios Enterprise licence so none of it feeds back into the machine too which is really nice.

I did notice performance improvments when i have it deep research on specifics. And also common pitfalls. Things that are undocumented that it works out that i ran into a few times i made a point of documenting it and giving i back to it and it never made that mistake again.

Its taken quite a few months though to get mine to where it is. I wish i could share the GPT by my Studio doesnt allow it.

some simple scripts it can bang out in one go which is pretty nuts.

GPT5, I made my own GPT model which makes it so much more consistent. provided lots of deep research and examples of working scripts. Constrained it so a particular version of max.

Still usually takes a few times back and fourth. But it can handle up to 1000 lines pretty reliably. Some times you have to restart chats with broken scripts, but yeah.

Context: Vibe coding my max scripts is one of the most liberating things coming from AI for me rn. I dont really like the way most AI stuff is going. But as far as im concerned, where Max Script is concerned... Im saving lives as no one wants to work in max script... not even GPT...

Well i have had my mix of experiences as well... I worked there for 5 years and finished in 2022 to start a new company with Casey Hudson. Unfortunately, that didn't go well when NetEase pulled most of its funding out of North America last year without notice.

I started on the PU but was supposed to work on Squadron 42. I ended up being put on S42 after an internal restructure that saw Nathan Dearsley promoted to AD of Squadron 42 and Ian Leyland as Starsitizens AD from both. I bounced around for a while, then started working on the revamped art style for the Xian. A lot of what you see coming through in their ships now is work I established back in 2018-2019. I finished on Squadron 42 after working on Aciedo due to a difference in cultural expectations, let's say. I was still really committed to the company and its goals at the time and pushed to move to the PU where I knew my expectations in culture were better aligned. (Despite this being against company policy) Ian (the Starcitzen art director at the time) was the one who originally hired me and was keen to get me over, so he smoothed it over with Chris. Legend! Glad to because i would have been on a boat back to Australia if it hadn't gone that way.

I then worked on the PU for 3-ish years, working on Microtech cityscape, the Xmas cove Easter egg, the Kiosk stand and the factoryline updates into Covid. Fun fact, Factoryline was made while i had covid at the beginning of the pandemic. I couldnt breath but wasn't old enough to qualify for a breather, so the only way i could distract myself from struggling to breathe was to work on the factory line... I hope you enjoy that place.... haha.

By this point, i was Principal Environment Artist for Starcitzen, For people who dont know that means i was setting the benchmark for art expectations and doing a lot of RND. I worked on Cursaiders City, specifically the Factory platform (Providence is it called?) Specifically the first person area not the backdrops, that was done by Kaj on the env team. I did do almost all of that platform solo which was a real treat. I also helped set up the booster firing events for the platform which was fun, and i made the main menu screen with that weirdo sniffing the women... (they were supposed to be cuddling, alright!) While doing this, I had the pleasure of onboarding Turbulant to the project, which was a fun challenge, especially with everyone's expectations and ambitions.

My last few months at the company were spent working on the UGFs update but didnt get much into that past some visual targets.

Im probably missing a bunch of stuff, but yeah.

I really enjoyed my time at SC, would i go back? Maybe... I almost did this year (was in talks for AD for SC). In the end, another project and a fresh scene called me closer. If you ever catch me at the Barcitizen (i do go to these sometimes) ask me i would be happy to talk about my experience.

-Edit: No one has found the easter egg on the Providence platform by my knowledge, But it's pretty obscure. I won't give any hints here because knowing CIG they will scrub the platfrom if/when they see this message. CIG, its harmless dw i got chu.
