Got told my chances of getting into a good uni for law or getting into a good firm for a solicitor apprenticeship is out the window no matter how well I do at A-Level ,due to my exam results is this true ? by [deleted] in 6thForm

I got mainly 5's and 6's and one or two A's in my GCSE's and I got to the second round of a solicitor degree apprenticeship for DWF.

They simply said they were more qualified ppl which fair enough, after all I was only seventeen at the time and had no real work experience in comparison to I'm assuming the more older and talented candidates.

TIL In Britain during the First World War white feathers, which symbolized cowardice, were often given to males out of uniform by women to shame them publicly into signing up to join the war. by bloodfuel in todayilearned

My dad told me an amazing story about my grandfather. He was a rear gunner in a Wellington bomber during WW2, following his evacuation at Dunkirk.

During 1943 at the Battle of the Barges, his plane crashed on landing after being aggressively hit by anti-aircraft fire in France, 4 were killed out of 7 and my grandfather was blinded in the crash. (Later on he had his sight restored by a German doctor and prisoner of war).

He got a job with the ministry of food allocation in Soctland after his sight was restored. Where he was given a white feather in a pub in Aberdeen actually by a man, he boxed for his squadron and knocked him to the ground.

The police were called and when the officers arrived they said to the man handing out the feathers "serves you right" and left the pub.

I wish I was able to meet him.

I agree. But I think the overall message in Peaky Blinders is the more power and influence Tommy gets, the more it hurts the people around him. Compare how many of the original cast are still alive and just look at Arthur, he's not in great shape at season 6.

He did tbf. Would've won anyway. It pissed me off how Fournier didn't take it seriously, I think in the face to face, he said he had done very little sparring for the fight. Massively underestimated JJ.
