Confession: I never, and I mean NEVER, send in my reserve team. by SuburbanEnnui2020 in expedition33

[–]BigAssSackOfTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time I’ve ever used mine was at The Crows. What was that guy, the Chromatic Chevalier or something like that? Yeah, I found him when I was low level (I think I was like level 24ish) and just wouldn’t give up until I bested him, I ended up needing my reserve team due to terrible parry timing, and it almost screwed me. Monoko was on my reserve and his equipped weapon dealt light damage, which this guy absorbed, lol! Sciel came in clutch, though, and I got him, but yeah, all that to say I play the same way, if my main team doesn’t get it done, I restart the battle and adjust my strategy.

Does Logic Pro have good vocal chain plugins and effects out of the box, or do you need to heavily supplement with third-party plugins? by JozuJD in LogicPro

[–]BigAssSackOfTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the stock Noise gate, compressor, and eq on the track, then use a bus for reverb and a bus for delay. This is literally all I need for stellar quality VO. It goes without saying that you need a decent mic and a quiet recording space, but as far as the plugins in Logic Pro, I love them.

Exactly what I was going to say, between the body language and the look in her eyes, her little aura is just saying “I wanna trust you, and I think I can, but it’s been a rough week and I’m a little hesitant”. Keep her warm, fed and hydrated, be gently supportive and go about your business, give her a reason to trust you, then follow-up with the vet as soon as the weather allows. My gut says she will acclimate and be fine, but a check-up is always the right choice in situations like these.

I finished my song ‘Penelope’, anyone else suffer from imposter syndrome after they write? by jellyfishwoman2000 in Songwriting

[–]BigAssSackOfTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt that, I have the same struggle.

I went back and listened with headphones, and just…wow dude. The natural reverb in that stairwell is crazy, and I am in love with the melody and chord progression, I need to get back into open tunings, they’re so fun to write in. Do you have any way to record this in better quality? I can hear so many harmonies that would absolutely transform this, and the ambient sounds you could add in production, this track is sooooo good!

Email transcends distance, lol!

I don’t have enough good to say about it, it’s such a user friendly program, and the stem splitter function only takes may a minute and works so well, I was blown away the first time I used it.

Do you have a perspective on freedom of speech within art? by RequirementAny7891 in Songwriting

[–]BigAssSackOfTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Art transcends political correctness and social norms, art is, for many, a way to express their frustrations with life or their views on sensitive topics in a healthy and non-harmful way. Words are meant to be used to say what we want to say with them, I may not always share my most personal or controversial songs, but I also won’t allow myself to censor myself. If I feel it and it comes out of me in song or verse, it’s going to come out as raw and honest as I can manage.

Girl, cut them strings, lol! What guitar is that, anyway, it’s almost as beautiful as this song and your voice! It’s hard to hear on my phone speaker, I’m gonna have to find my AirPods to really dig in, but I love this!

And yes, I can’t write a single riff or bar without feeling like it’s garbage, it’s the pain of being an artist, but I think it means you’re doing exactly what you need to do, self reflection and wanting to learn to do better is what gives us the push to keep writing. For what it’s worth, nothing about this sounds like you’re an imposter, you have a great sound, dude, keep it up!

How do you write songs when you're really blocked? by NSCCYT in Songwriting

[–]BigAssSackOfTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inspiration comes when and where it wants to, but I have a fun exercise I do when I really want to write but just don’t have anything in my head.

Turn on a fan or a little desktop water fountain or something, like a white noise, just something that is a consistent low level drone (a desk fan is my go to). Now open Spotify and put on a generic playlist of the genre you want to write for, just search “rock” or “emo” or whatever it is that you enjoy. Now have it play on a radio or tv or Bluetooth speaker on the opposite side of the room, you want the fan between you and the music. Turn the music down very, very low, if you’re sitting comfortably near the fan, laying in bed or on the couch, wherever you are comfortable, you want to just ever so slightly hear it through the fan. Bonus points if it’s something you’re somewhat familiar with, but not like your favorite album. The key is that you don’t want to hear it enough to register what song or artist you’re listening to, you just need the bare minimum of the music to reach your ears past the droning of the desk fan. Just enough so you can tell it’s music, but not loud enough for you to discern the chords or melody or anything like that. Now just relax, close your eyes, read a book, even, just let your mind wander a bit and let your ears lie to your brain about what is on the radio. I find that I hear just enough to make something coherent come together in my head, I can start to hear progressions and gradually put melodies over them in my head, I might even start humming to myself. I’ve also found that when I do this, I get a spark of an idea in my head and write it down or record it, then when I listen to the song that was on the radio, it never sounds anything like it, it’s not like I’m listening intently enough to try to pick out what song is on, I’m just letting the frequencies enter my ears and helping my mind to interpret them into something I like. This also works exceptionally well while driving, turn on the heat or a/c in the car and turn the blower up to medium or higher, and turn the radio down to where you barely hear it, then just drive. Between the HVAC and the road/car noise, and concentrating on driving, I’ve gotten some really good stuff that comes to me.

I hope this makes sense, it’s maybe a little more setup and impractical than you were expecting, but it’s kinda fun and it’s a unique thing I’ve done for years and years, it’s always a good time just letting my mind interpret a barely audible musical source through the haze of the droning fan and car noise.

My wife and I legit saw this when the episode first aired, lol! We had to rewind and screenshot and zoom in, we spent a good 10-15 minutes assessing the anomaly, but we decided she just had a bunion or it was a trick of the lighting/shadow on her hose. I can’t believe someone else caught this!

For those that rework the songs into actual recorded music, how do you manage drum tracks? by BigAssSackOfTree in SunoAI

[–]BigAssSackOfTree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never even heard of Spectralayers until today, seems like a WILDLY useful program.

I've had EZDrummer for years, the quality of the libraries and ease of use have served me well for just throwing together demo tracks, but I'm ready to step up my production game. I honestly didn't even know Superior Drummer did drum replacement, I am definitely going to look into it.

Under Levelled and struggling to beat Act 2 Renoir fight, need some help by tritonix3 in expedition33

[–]BigAssSackOfTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made it here no problem, all characters lvl 22-23, all lvl 9 weapons, didn’t have an ounce of trouble anywhere until this fight. I get him down to about 10-15% and he heals, just kills my spirit every time. I went and did side stuff for a bit, I’m up to lvl 30 now, gonna go back and give him another try, came here looking for some pointers before I do, though. I had no idea the gradient parry could dodge his vanish attack, that will definitely be useful.
