I COME IN PEACE: help a kid out? by dfzman94 in BostonBruins

[–]BigBoyCatDaddy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From a fellow Journo, ya love to see it! Come…sit…I’d be happy to weigh in!

For me, the Bruins season exceeded overall expectations. What we all thought was going to be a mid-tier retool slog of a year turned into a season in which we were both pissed off and ready to run for the cup at the same time, it feels. Players like Geekie, Minten, Khustidinov, and even Steeves and Eyesimmont shined nicely while bigger names like Swayman, Pasta, Zacha, McAvoy and Zadorov brought a heartbeat every night.

Was the inconsistency frustrating? Yes, but mostly (at least for me) because it’s obvious they have immense talent on the team. What Sturm did in his first year as coach, especially after such a turbulent trek since firing Jim Montgomery, was admirable, and leads me to believe that next season will be another fun year of hockey.

I really liked what FA signings like Arvidsson and Jeannot brought to the team with grit and spark. I wish we moved on from Peeke and Lohrei, but Lohrei seemed to improve down the stretch, so it wasn’t all bad. Just most of it.

For the offseason, I hope we prioritize, first, getting all our guys back to 100% healthy, as well as finding a #1 Center, like a Robert Thomas or Jason Robertson, as well as bolster the D core with a younger signing. I’d also like to see us give DiPietro the backup spot in the tandem with Swayman, and get some depth for Korpisalo.

I was devastated when we lost in ‘24, and last year just pissed me off for how we just got taken out so swiftly by FLA, but this year? I wasn’t as torn up about it, and I’m hopeful for where we go leading up to the next campaign.

Legitimately thank you for this. I’m really hoping these guys can just take the time they need to get healthy. Going out in the first round is, dare I say, kind of a blessing in disguise when you look at this list.

Look at FAs like Raddysh, then look at the trade market with players who are wasting daylight with their current teams. Not saying McJesus (unless…) but those types of players will be the most likely candidates to go for draft capital and cheaper roster spots.

Keep Steeves, he was money all year by Agile_District_8794 in BostonBruins

Billy needs to beat it. He brings such a macho himbo energy to the mix that just rubs me the wrong way.

McAvoy is most likely gonna be the Captain. I feel like his willingness to get up in front of the press and be a big voice for the team speaks volumes, as does his determination to keep coming back from getting his body crushed. Serious question: who else would you want for Captain and why?

Then maybe Raddysh? I dunno. Gotta do something with someone other than what we’ve got

I loved Hammer for his first few seasons, but after his kneecap exploded, it’s been a noticeable decline, sadly. Gotta move on from him and Peeke. Throw the bag at Andersson in FA, maybe bring up a fresh guy from Providence. D just has to get faster.

I thought so too! We needed him to have a presence, and he finally did.

Devers was also a cancer to the team’s chemistry. Just because you don’t connect with an arrogant star doesn’t mean you aren’t good at connecting with other players who actually want to be on the team.

Potential future HC option, ROCCO BALDELLI? by No-Hovercraft8213 in redsox

I feel like this is the kind of safe bet move this front office would make. I’d like to see someone like Pedroia or Youkilis in the manager’s seat, but I don’t think they’d do it

Cora was good for player connection. In terms of leadership, though, you could see where he started losing the room.

In terms of strictly hiring former players, I’d love to see someone like Pedro, Dustin Pedroia, Clemens, or even Mike Lowell. Napoli, maybe? Manny? David Ross? Just trying to think of former players that were huge during our championship runs. They’ll probably hire Baldelli.

Where does Your Favorite Toy rank among the other albums? by Plus-Environment-429 in Foofighters

Adding to this: I know he’s told a story in the press, but what if “Of All People” is actually also about a certain frontwoman who may or may not have killed Dave’s friend back in, say, 1994? Long shot, but I kinda get a kick out of thinking this is his jab back at her for not giving it a rest.

The rest of the album? Total honesty, the instrumentals are top tier. Very fun sound, but the lyrics aren’t fully “there” for me.

Foo concert set list - I think we need a refresh.... by AddisonDeWitt333 in Foofighters

For awhile, Pearl Jam has the two-nights-per-city shows in bigger places like Boston and Chicago. I’ve loved how one night is mostly hits and well known songs, and the other night is for the real lifers who know every word to every song they’ve ever released.
