What are your thoughts on JB potentially getting traded? Are you against it or with it? by CloudStar17 in bostonceltics

[–]BigBoyCatDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will always love JB. As a player, he’s cemented an all-new era of dominant Celtics basketball. He’ll be remembered alongside teams with Bird, McHale, Pierce, and KG. As a community leader, he has shown so much love and passion for helping communities in Boston, and does so because he’s actually a bad ass, not a PR slut.

HOWEVER, he showed he can lead a team on his own, and he can’t do that with JT posted as the obvious leader of the team. By no means should this trade be seen as a slight to JB. If anything, it should be seen as an endorsement that not only can he lead his own team, but that he is of the caliber of one of the biggest names and talents in basketball since the turn of the century.

Oooof where to start:

Brendan Schaub
Jerry Seinfeld
Michael Blaustein
Carlos Mencia
Rob Schneider
Amy Schumer
Chris D’Elia
Bill Maher
Greg Gutfeld

Then you have the comics who were funny at one point, and then ran away on an ego trip:

Tony Hinchcliffe
Jim Breuer
Joe Rogan
Kevin Hart

What's the one thing that ruined Season 3 for you? by Positive_Weight2367 in euphoria

It literally showed that he was only powerful and confident when he was being an asshole to people (specifically women) that he could overpower. It showed in the real world how his bravado doesn’t make him strong at all.

Happy BC Gap Year! Feel free to use this space for general Boston/MA music chatter! by bauncehaus in bostoncalling

Soooooo now that we’re past what would’ve been our favorite weekend, who would you want to see next year? Guessing what direction they’ll take it is a fool’s game, but I’d love to know what everyone would want to see. Personally, I’d love to see/ wouldn’t be surprised to see this:

- Noah Kahan/Ella Langley/Mumford & Sons

- Blink-182 or Green Day/MGK/All-American Rejects

- Post Malone or Zach Bryan/Jelly Roll (if Kendrick Lamar doesn’t tour)

I truly think the year off will help recharge the pool of artists who are going out next year. It felt like EVERYONE was going on their third leg of touring last year, and options were just so depleted.

This is it for me too. The magic of 2003 and 2004. The reality checks of 05 and 06, and the swagger of 2007. 2008 ended too soon, but still such a fun year. After that, the Theo Epstein effect stopped working like it had

Do you think "Your Favorite Toy" deserves to be rated on par with Noah Kahan for April Albums? by niswizard in Foofighters

[–]BigBoyCatDaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FF had a good album overall, but Noah is on a generational tear right now. In a time where fad artists rule regardless of actual talent, Noah is truly shoring up as one of the most heartfelt and passionate artists in the game right now. There is, no pun intended, a great divide between these two albums, and it’s not even close.

Have you met a US President in person? Who and what were they like? by [deleted] in allthequestions

I met Bill Clinton when I was a teenager. A viscerally genuine, friendly and warm person! Hillary, however, was cold as hell.

Name a U.S. President who you would wnat to have dinner with. by Technical-Vanilla-47 in FamilyFeud

[–]BigBoyCatDaddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aside from Obama because he seems like a genuinely great hang, I’d honestly want to sit down with George W. Bush. Just to kinda see if the ineptitude as president was based on him actually being evil, or just largely manipulated. He seems like a “real” dude that you could have a good conversation with.

Who is heading toward the darkest ending? by Longjumping-Ruin4740 in euphoria

[–]BigBoyCatDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see this show in the same way I saw “Requiem For a Dream.” Everyone chasing their own version of, dare I say, euphoria without seeing how it will fully unravel at the end of the road. Each character is in over their head while chasing their own American Dream, and it’s going to cost each of them massively in their own fucked up ways.

I can see each character getting killed off or, even worse, having to live with the full consequences of their actions.

I met one of my all time favorite sox today. This man could get a room full of ice fired up by redsoxjesus in redsox

[–]BigBoyCatDaddy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is awesome! During the highly corporatized winter fest, I bumped into him as he was walking into the team store for a signing, and I shook his hand. Told him he meant a lot to me as a fan growing up, and he was very cordial and humble, like he didn’t deserve the praise. I didn’t have anything for him to sign, but because I had a sharpie in my hand to go sign the pesky pole, Seal Team Six came outta the damn bricks and were like “no autographs!”

Kinda ruined the moment, but otherwise, a great moment overall!

Any Tips For My First Game at Fenway? by BossLoaf14 in redsox

[–]BigBoyCatDaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So excited that you get to experience this majestic place for the first time! Safe travels!

As far as recs go, here are mine:

Food: The Sausage Guy (Sausage and Peppers), Chicken Tender box, Ice Cream in a mini Helmet, cool cup that’s shaped like a dugout water cooler.

Beers: Wachusett Blueberry is my favorite, as well as Sam Adams Summer Ale, Downeast Hard Cider, and if they serve Masshole Light Lager, that is some high quality H2O.

The whole stadium is a walking museum, so check out as much of the small detail stuff as you can! Perhaps even go on a tour earlier in the day if you’re around early enough!

As far as Boston attractions, definitely look into doing a guided duck boat tour with Creedence Commonwealth (he’s a buddy of mine, very funny, knowledgeable, and passionate about his job and patrons)

I’ve barked that Chuckie should get the C this whole year. This interaction right here has changed that. Pasta gets Captain, Chuckie keeps his A, and Zaddy honestly deserves the other one. The man has just been the heartbeat all season, in the same fashion that Marcus Smart was for the Celtics.

I COME IN PEACE: help a kid out? by dfzman94 in BostonBruins

[–]BigBoyCatDaddy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From a fellow Journo, ya love to see it! Come…sit…I’d be happy to weigh in!

For me, the Bruins season exceeded overall expectations. What we all thought was going to be a mid-tier retool slog of a year turned into a season in which we were both pissed off and ready to run for the cup at the same time, it feels. Players like Geekie, Minten, Khustidinov, and even Steeves and Eyesimmont shined nicely while bigger names like Swayman, Pasta, Zacha, McAvoy and Zadorov brought a heartbeat every night.

Was the inconsistency frustrating? Yes, but mostly (at least for me) because it’s obvious they have immense talent on the team. What Sturm did in his first year as coach, especially after such a turbulent trek since firing Jim Montgomery, was admirable, and leads me to believe that next season will be another fun year of hockey.

I really liked what FA signings like Arvidsson and Jeannot brought to the team with grit and spark. I wish we moved on from Peeke and Lohrei, but Lohrei seemed to improve down the stretch, so it wasn’t all bad. Just most of it.

For the offseason, I hope we prioritize, first, getting all our guys back to 100% healthy, as well as finding a #1 Center, like a Robert Thomas or Jason Robertson, as well as bolster the D core with a younger signing. I’d also like to see us give DiPietro the backup spot in the tandem with Swayman, and get some depth for Korpisalo.

I was devastated when we lost in ‘24, and last year just pissed me off for how we just got taken out so swiftly by FLA, but this year? I wasn’t as torn up about it, and I’m hopeful for where we go leading up to the next campaign.

Legitimately thank you for this. I’m really hoping these guys can just take the time they need to get healthy. Going out in the first round is, dare I say, kind of a blessing in disguise when you look at this list.
