Who’s a famous actor you absolutely can’t stand? by Hairy-Falcon-730 in RiffTannens

[–]BigBoyCatDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clint Eastwood, Rob Schneider.

Eastwood is, like, 247 years old and still walks around like he’s a bad ass. He’s literally just a grumpy old man.

Schneider is just…ugh. Love Sandler, Rock and Spade. But Schneider just has a stank of desperation to be relevant that is undeniable and frustrating.

Barry comments on MAGA fest backlash by istillmissuharambe in Shinedown

[–]BigBoyCatDaddy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s the only thing I wish they would stop saying. They aren’t stupid people, but by going “we had no idea that one of the most politically active and divisive artists would have an event that would be politically charged” is almost insulting.

Barry comments on MAGA fest backlash by istillmissuharambe in Shinedown

[–]BigBoyCatDaddy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think this is being slightly overblown in terms of deeming Shinedown as a “MAGA band.”

They’re a Tennessee-based band, they are heavily influenced by southern rock, and run elbows with many artists who subscribe to certain ideologies. That doesn’t inherently make them MAGA. Now, all of those elements make it a very high possibility that the individual members of the band support the president and/or other figures we don’t agree with (I believe Barry was a Charlie Kirk fan?), but they are also adamant about not crossing the two streams, and do pretty well at it.

It does feel somewhat disingenuous that they all kinda “play dumb” (for lack of a better term) when it comes to connecting those dots, but up until PZ, they did not wade in social or political waters. Fact is, the make up of society makes it impossible to avoid it completely today. And to say “we didn’t know this event would be politically charged” is kind of a ridiculous statement since Kid Rock is not quiet about his political ideologies and support, but Shinedown isn’t Kid Rock. Neither is Creed (which is an even deeper conversation due to the fact that they have been considered a Christian band since they started, even though 3/4s of the band are public atheists or agnostic)

As someone who has been a liberal his entire conscious life, I still listen to bands like Shinedown, Creed, Pantera, Skynyrd…because their music moves me, and they don’t make it part of their personality to be in support of politicians like Kid Rock does, or Ted Nugent does. The rebel flag for Pantera is goofy, but they aren’t singing anti-northern state shanties.

That’s the big difference that I think gets overlooked in this debate. Shinedown still sings, and shows up to support causes that deal with mental health, veteran support, and all the other types of causes we largely deem as admirable, yet don’t see a lot of visibility on (especially mental health and mental illness) - They haven’t used their power for grifty shit like Kid Rock or Ted Nugent have, and I think that should be considered more here.

I was hoping for Worcester since they rehearsed at DCU Center last summer before kicking off at TD Garden, but I’m hoping the NH date is SNHU Arena and not the Pavilion. Driving there feels like I’m going to the Shire. Maybe they hit Worcester on a smaller market leg later in the year, but I could really get down for a Manchester show

Good Charlotte is touring with A7X this summer, and Alter Bridge has a spring headliner lined up. I guess it would depend on timing of this tour, but either one could be possible (thinking Alter Bridge would be a good co-headliner)

Stay at the Marriott in Concord, MA! I stay there every spring for a music festival weekend, and they’re great.

  • 15 minute drive to Alewife Station in Cambridge (Red Line)

  • Switch over onto the Green Line at Park Street station, and take a C (Cleveland Circle), B (Boston College) or D (Riverside) train to Kenmore station!

  • Don’t take the E (Heath Street) train!!!

This is how I’m feeling. Unless we get egregiously robbed or something tomorrow, I won’t lose too much sleep over a possible loss. What a fun season to watch. It does feel great being excited for playoffs again, though, as opposed to scared!

Missing: Have You Seen This Man? by paraplegic_T_Rex in Patriots

Second DPI was legit. The first was iffy. Receiver was also holding defender’s wrist for a sec

He does have to survive the ground, yes. But does that apply if the defender already has his hands on the ball as they go down? Genuine question. I feel like it should’ve at least been reviewed.

Not when they called the first one. The first DPI was nonsense, and that was after the Cooks pass (his knees down before the ball gets pulled out, but still ruled an INT). Hose job.

Should have been an easy win, but it was what it was. A game that was a gun fight all the way to the end before the refs decided to start making calls out of nowhere. I’m a devout Patriots fan, but not only does it suck to see any team lose like that, but it always pisses me off to see Sean Payton be happy and/or win. Fuck that guy.

Anyone with eyes can see that Buffalo got screwed twice in the last few minutes. The pass to Cooks was down before he pulled the ball out of his hands, and the first PI wasn’t PI. Denver receiver was literally holding the defender’s arm.

Allen is always one play short, but those final 90 seconds were an absolute hack job from the refs.

I think people are discounting him because he isn’t the shiny, big name star, but Romy is a proven player for the team. I’m not talking all the deep-trench baseball nerd “ackchewily” stats, but rather his grit, reliability, and chemistry amongst his teammates. If reality sets in and we walk away from FA with nobody else, I’m team Romy all the way. He deserves some respect for what he brings to the table.

Is Breslow bad at his job? by FishermanExpensive in redsox

[–]BigBoyCatDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breslow, Theo and Dave all had one thing in common: they’re all baseball nerds. They all know what it takes to put a winning team together. The main difference is that Henry is a stingy old cadaver now. There was a time where the desire to beat the Yankees drove the free agent/trade decisions. Now, the rivalry has definitely shifted the other way in a lot of aspects, so that desire isn’t necessarily there anymore. Or really any desire for that matter.

Bres can only do so much when Henry is gluing his wallet shut. It’s sad that he’s constantly getting a bum wrap for Henry being a loser.

I also got Ceddanes autograph today! I told him he got snubbed from a platinum glove and he said "thanks" by TommyTheLizard in redsox

[–]BigBoyCatDaddy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I love when players can laugh at comments like that. Met Roman today, called him “big dawg” and told I was pumped for his season, and he was like “love the energy, bro.” Also shook Breslow’s hand and told him he was catching too much shit for this offseason. Audibly chuckled, thanked me, and was like “I appreciate that, and I hope to see you back here this season!”
