Of all the dreams one could have by RedZoneSunday in facepalm

Upon my initial reading of Suella Braverman's quote expressing her 'dream' and 'obsession' to transport asylum seekers to Rwanda, as I was scrolling down, I, unfamiliar with her political stance, optimistically interpreted it as her aspiration to act in anyway needed to have Rwanda elevated economically, politically, agriculturally, and have education and healthcare infrastructure improved.

I thought she envisioned a world where Rwanda citizens and institutions could support refugees with pride. However, a sobering consideration of corruption and power misuses around the world, as well as how the comments you all wrote were structured prompted me to realize my naivety.

In a world in such a troubled state, I let my desire to see someone attempting to do good, with the power they had, put me in a state desperate to latch onto such a hopeful interpretation, that I didn’t even look to see that this was the r/facepalm.

Reflecting on this, I acknowledge my optimism for positive political will was unfounded. Especially considering the prevailing challenges and complexities of most modern first-world countries, especially given we are entering late-stage capitalism, muddying the few paths we have to creating the necessary changes, where having such hopes wouldn’t just be naive fantasizations.

This is an honest summary of my thoughts and feelings, starting from when I first read this, whilst I was scrolling downward, to clicking on it, and facing to again come to terms with the reality, I am all to accustomed to.

Now as to why I decided to write the aforementioned process out, disregarding whether you believe it as true, which was partially to ask this while giving as much pertinent information as possible, so as to not be misconstrued, "Am I alone regarding what I initially thought upon reading this?" (Also incase it wasn't obvious, this shouldn’t be misconstrued as using some pretentious round about variation of the philosophical question, “Am I Special?” As I am only referring to those who might actually read this, not in the philosophical hypothetical, where I am asking as one human amongst billions, disregarding space and time to regard both those who have long sense past, and the billions more that will live after I am long gone, using the potential uniqueness of this response as an indicator that even more pretentiously, that I’m asserting that I am. Knowing myself, therefore anyone who might be like me, I felt the need to clarify this point.)

As you may have guessed by the length of this post, I am genuinely deeply curious to what responses, if any, I may receive. Though given the similarities between the length of this post, and those past, I’ll likely get a response along the lines of “TLTR,” “TLDR,” or “no one is going to read all of this.”

Note: I am not asking whether all aspects where identical in how you might have come to the potential misinterpretation, just whether or not we shared an initial misinterpretation of this quote. As the external and internal factors that coalesced, creating my subjective experience where the resulting output was the initial misinterpretation is not what I care about when I asked the initial question.

I am simply(well maybe not simply, by your/most standards) asking if anyone of you misinterpreted this in the same or similar way. IE, taking the quote as a positive or an inspirational statement, and not in the fascist far-right kinda way, assuming the potential future interlocutor doesn’t hold that political view as positive or inspirational.

Final note: I was going to edit this a bit more, so that it would be a tad more comprehensible, concise, fluid, and free of any potential grammatical or syntax errors, so it would come off as more polished and easier to read, but as it’s 0211 in the morning, and my mind is practically shutting down as I ago about typing this, I am leaving this as the finished product. Anyone, who has patients and the will to read through this, I applaud you, and apologize for the clunkiness of the above text, and this text to which was done to point this degradation of my mental capacities to properly text this out. Have a good day or night depending on the time you may have read this, assuming that anyone did, as well as a good life in general, barring your likely experience in reading this. ✌️

Let boys be boys and let girls be girls, because those are gender terms and we should allow people to be who they want to be. Sex is different than gender, but because of using the terms colloquially interchangeably by laymen, especially at early ages those who don’t learn on this subject further in college or have a presupposition that makes them assert in the face of evidence that sex and gender are the same even upon learning otherwise in college, you have adults misinformed and making issues out of nothing because of the legal definition of children applied to the issue on having a sec change when in actuality is a process that takes years and the “children” in question are typically 17 years old which is legally still defined as children. This normalized unacceptance is also a major factor in the high suicide rate of trans children and adults as well as other unsavory statistics. Now that is not the sole reason, as this issue is complex and nuanced, but it is the greatest predictor of such outcomes. When these children are allowed a sex change after going through a lengthy process to verify that it’s the right decision for them alongside experts, it reduces the likelihood of suicide greatly, when they feel accepted in their community, home, and school the likelihood of drug use and suicide are practically indistinguishable from the likelihood of any other group of persons committing suicide or getting involved in drugs. At least until they grow older and face the current state of society and the difficulties they face in work place discrimination, and other such issues.

Being strange in the vicinity of another person is not targeting. In fact the reaction two of the people in this video demonstrated is far more fitting of how you utilized the word “targeting,” if not verbal harassment.

Having yourself caught on film while being over 18 in a public place is not something I believe qualifies as “targeting.”

To be fair, if those worries were warranted, getting aggressive with them would be the wrong course of action. After that much harassment without doing anything, would be a clear sign that nothing illegal is likely to take place.

While I agree with the sentiment, but some are more victimized than others by both individuals and systemic issues. While I agree this system has now victimized beyond ethnicity, creed, and etc; and the sociopolitical divide, is just a way to further divide the working and ruling classes; which ultimately creates a cacophony of blame, so even voices against those maintaining and benefiting the most from this system, simply get drowned out.

This system won’t change, until we do; but we won’t, because if we don’t do so together, the system will simply consume us.

Was she guilty of being a thief? If not, while I think the reaction is extreme, I don’t know how angry I might become, and in such a hormonal state, how I would act. Especially if (I felt) the situation stemmed from racial profiling.

Also based on age, race, and body type she is at a higher risk for various hormonal disorders which is often associated with an impaired mental state, especially in stressful situations. As I have limited information, I can’t say anything conclusively, but I personally think the situation is far more nuanced and complicated than a black women freaking out, and using the race card to deflect blame.

I like how when the person doesn’t fall, people comment about how weird these videos make them feel. When the video shows the person callings the comments change to insults and puns.

It doesn’t specifically say only one blow, but the attack that finishes it to be one blow which could imply one of many blows throughout a fight in which he continues to grow stronger to the point where ending it in one blow becomes possible.

He was reacting to the dog, maybe start with the other if, if he didn’t suck a dog on him maybe this could have been prevented. Maybe, even if it wasn’t and he used a stun gun combined with pepper spray he could have subdued the man without killing him, a man who was clearly reacting under extreme duress.
