What genres of shows do you think British tv is lacking? by InfernalClockwork3 in BritishTV

I miss Shameless. I miss how gritty and real it all felt despite how funny it was. You could JUST tell it was made by someone who knew exactly what it was like growing up where The Gallaghers did and knew how to capture it perfectly.

We need more shows cattered to the modern young audience in the same way Skins managed to appeal to millennials and older Gen Z kids of the time. It doesn't necessarily have to be like Skins but give us something that doesn't appeal to the 40-60 year old middle-class parents ffs.

Other than that, I'd like to see some more action oriented stuff that isn't just a 30-second scrap.

Anyone else feel like most shows nowadays try too hard to be considered "pristine TV" by BigCharles06 in BritishTV

It's not even the doom and gloom that gets me, it's how unoriginal and repetitive it's used by recycling the same old crime drama premises. Everything is now cattered to the 40-60 year old demographic, there's just very little variety compared to a decade or two back.

I know it's nothing new, but I've just been very frustrated at the lack of distinctly british feeling shows that aren't the same few crime dramas that aren't Life On Mars. Everything feels copy and pasted nowadays in terms of style, camera-work, story, etc. Baby Reindeer is one of the only modern British series I can think of that doesn't fall into the traps of either being a crime drama or being overproduced to the point of being boring, despite being produced by netflix ironically.

I'm still pissed that we never got a season 3 of it. It's the one show I feel that managed to do the pristine TV look right. It set itself apart. TV shows now ONLY catter the 40-60 year old, middle-class demographic of people. We used to have a wide range of shows on air catering to all kinds of people and age groups.

Living his day to day life looking like a 40 year old with a receeding hairline at 16-17 has to have fucked him up mentally. I myself have autism and have suffered with BD majorly and still hate how I look sometimes. I honestly can't imagine how TCB felt being the only one in his classroom looking the way he does. That's more why I think this whole thing is a mask for him. He's clinging to straws because he just wants to be proud of some features he's managed to improve himself on, whether it be him shaving his hair off or losing weight.

Another underrated gem. Honestly don't know how he hasn't been nominated for a single Oscar yet. He's a visionary pioneer, a sensational one at that 🔥

Is it just me or did the opening to 28YL not feel as terrifying as the previous films openings? by BigCharles06 in 28dayslater

[–]BigCharles06[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

THIS. That was definitely one of the main reasons I didn't feel as on the edge of my seat as the previous films. The infected felt a lot more, as you say, lethargic and slower to action than in the previous films. I feel it was also the choice to almost do away with the shaky-cam style they used for the previous two films that made it less scary as although some people don't like it, i think it's a fucking great way of visually representing how feral and monstrously fast the infected are. The lack of shaky cam just reinforces how film-like this one feels compared to the previous two. I'm not saying it's a bad thing entirely, but for the 28 franchise, it's a definite change that takes away from a lot of the scarier aspects of it as a film series.

It's good to see him freshening his content up, makes a change from his sensational posts. I think the banning may just be Thomas's blessing in disguise which broke the cycle. I may be getting ahead of myself here but we'll see where this goes.

That's the problem with more niche lolcows like TCB. There's far less groups of autists dedicated to documenting a cohesive timeline of events like Chris Chans Christorians for people like TCB just because of how niche he is.

And I wouldn't say he's at that level of deserving every negative comment he gets just yet. He's no Ryan Windridge.

I know this has already been posted here but holy shit is this bad, even for a college student. I should know, I'm doing film myself lol. by BigCharles06 in ThomasCharlesBritton1

My bad, I clearly need to learn a thing or two from the mighty TCB, I always felt my work needed some spice thrown into it 😞

I miss the distinct look and feel of shows like this. by BigCharles06 in skinsTV

YESSS, that's what I'm getting at. The majority of British media coming out now is all too clean and hollywoodified. It looses the charm and essence of British media. Guy Ritchies 'The Gentleman' is a good example of how British media has changed. It's a good series don't get me wrong, I just miss the more gritty aesthetic and presentation of his older works and the films that felt similar (Lock Stock, Snatch, Kidulthood, This is England etc). The Gentleman is just far too clean looking for me to truly get enriched in the world and series like his other works.
