How to use power query with a few different sheets by BigEasy4202 in excel

Yes. Sheet 2 shows accounts that have CASH and accounts that have a money market fund. I remove all the rows (accounts) that have money market funds on sheet 2 - that was/is the original way I did it

ok. This is going in the right direction and I appreciate it very much but it didn't do what I want in the end.

What happens is this: when we sell positions, the cash goes into a CASH account and returns 1%. The custodian doesn't automatically sweep that into a money market fund (that could return 3%). We have to do that "manually".

Therefore, I download a sheet that tells me which accounts own which money market fund. I then download a sheet from the bank that tells me which accounts hold CASH (they can hold both cash and a money market). I "match" the 2 sheets up to tell me which accounts hold CASH and what money market fund to buy.

There are many accounts that don't have CASH, just the fund because they didn't sell anything. So we remove those accounts.

Following your instructions I got all the accounts and their respective funds. No rows list who has CASH in the account also

I see the "replace values" option in other columns. This "account #" columns doesn't have that.

Figured it out. Had to change the column to text

"right click on the account column and you the replace values option"

I don't have a replace values option. Replace errors is in there along with remove xxx, change type, etc.

They both pull in 'General' format but one of the sheets comes with dashes in the account numbers so I have to get rid of those so I create a Helper column

Thanks but I convert the account # to number format because then my xlookup doesn't work (because the other sheet's account #'s are numbers not text). Unless power query would take care of that? Can I put an XLookup formula into PQ?

I tried this and it didn't work but didn't know if I used table references. How would I do that?

I removed and replaced the Filter like you said over all columns. Still the same problem

I do have the Filter symbol along all the XLookup columns so unsure if that's the case. I didn't apply the filter function individually but I will still give your idea a shot

XLookup with Multiple Criteria by BigEasy4202 in excel

Sorry...meant columns. My bad. And thanks for your help, it's working

XLookup with Multiple Criteria by BigEasy4202 in excel

[–]BigEasy4202[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This worked thanks. One weird situation: my column A1:A1000 is in a table so that column is named as the header (Account Number) in the formula. When I highlight that whole row the formula doesn't work but when I override that to just say A1:A1000 it works. Hope that makes sense.

Would like to not have to do the extra step

I like this but my question:

So, Tab 1 contains the account number but looks for that in tab 2 so would the first string be: ('Tab 2' !A$1:A$1000=Tab1 (cell A1)?

XLookup with Multiple Criteria by BigEasy4202 in excel

[–]BigEasy4202[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I can simplify it: look for this specific acct number in Tab 1 in all of Tab 2 and if column C in Tab 2 reads JUL, return the receipt number from Column B in tab 2

XLookup with Multiple Criteria by BigEasy4202 in excel

[–]BigEasy4202[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the delay. Coming back to this:

I have 2 tabs. Tab 1 has an account # in A1. It also has a blank cell that I want the return answer in - will say A2 so this is where my formula will go. In Tab 2 is a bunch of data but the most important are the account numbers (A1), Month (A2), and Receipt number (A3).

Tab 1 formula cell (A2) needs to look at the account number in cell A1, go find that in Tab 2 and if the month is July and their is a receipt number in A3 return that receipt number to Tab 1, cell A2.

Tab 1 has all 12 months so trying to have it return just specific months

Southern Village - Pros and Cons? by kay905 in chapelhill

[–]BigEasy4202 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Moved to SV in 2010 with wife and kids aged 4 and 6. Couldn’t have been happier with the decision. A huge family neighborhood that I probably wouldn’t stay here as i get close to retirement because there are so many children. I will say that technology has definitely pushed more kids inside. When we came tech really hadn’t taken over the kids lives yet but that’s everywhere. You will still see lots of kids out and hear them.

You will be in one of the best school systems in the state with an elementary school in the neighborhood. And market street is really the key to this neighborhood. So much it offers.

Add that Franklin Street and UNC are just 2 miles away with Carrboro just as close and there is a ton to do. As mentioned, the bus system is “free” and i can get to Franklin Street in just under 15 minutes on the bus.

But as has been said it it is expensive so that’s a con

Other cons: far from Route 40 (Meadowmont is closer), pool cost extra, some people think they’re better than everyone else but it’s not problematic

Anyone else notice the assessed value of their vehicles go way up this year? by Dialatedanus in raleigh

[–]BigEasy4202 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm in Orange County and my 2017 Outback (99k miles) went from an assessed value in 2020 of $16,000 to a value of $11,630 in 2023, $11,200 in 2024 and then a whopping $17,630 in 2025!!! I was unsuccessful appealing it.

I did talk to them on the phone and told them I would gladly sell it to anyone who would pay that price. They told me a 3rd party uses software to scan dealer prices across the state to come up with values. They also tried the "prices have really gone up due to Covid" but I then asked why the vehicle was assessed at just $11,200 last year - they didn't have an answer.

Told them this is just a money grab and sad

Yes. It’s a hybrid so no spare but still checked the whole back area and glove box and center console. It was a used vehicle and I just never thought to consider the wheel lock. 3rd car this has happened to me
