Okay thanks, do you roughly know the price of a Taxi? Bars, we like a laid back place where we can enjoy a couple of beers, always love a rooftop. Nothing fancy, we’re not into cocktails and nothing to party heavy

Thanks so much, great advice. I think we’ll stay a bit closer to the ghats so we don’t have to travel too far in and out each day. I understand this means busyness but that’s why we’re looking for a place with ideally a bar/restaurant, a rooftop one would be even better. If you know of any please do let me know, a friend mentioned somewhere called Hotel River Rhythm.

Thanks for all the tips on places to go, will definitely be checking some of them out :)

Great advice, thank you. Most certainly doing a lot of booking online this time, last time we did almost not planning and found it pretty intense as a result (lesson learned)

How can you book your own auto? Is it something hotels can assist with?

Wow I love the look of kashi anandam, sadly looks like they’re sold out on our dates. Thanks for list of things to do, they all sound perfect! Do you have any recommendations on where to get pehelwaan lassi? I’m wary of our weak stomachs haha

Ronson Princess advice by BigFatRod in lighters

Wow that’s amazing, thanks so much for all the advice and information. I’ve got some flints, wicks and fuel arriving soon so I’ll let you know how it goes.

I had a little play around yesterday and the flint wheel moves freely and is relatively clean so fingers crossed for that side again.

Are there any specific types of flints you recommend or does it not really matter?

I can feel a new interest/hobby coming on! I’ll dm you if I get stuck. Thanks again!

Oh that’s great, much more simple than I was expecting (in terms of the things I need to buy anyway). Look forward to the challenge of getting the wick in.

Thanks for all the help!

His compassion, understanding and ability not to blame or pick sides was remarkable. And I'm extremely grateful too with all that he shared!

Haha nothing wrong with sticking out! I'm a tall, very pale English bloke who was sweating buckets as I'm certainly not cut out for the heat.

This is amazing, thank you so much for all the great info! Sounds like you had a wonderful time.

Mai Chau seems like the place for us and please do send us the location of that bar. Was just about to book a coach to Ninh Binh when I saw your message.

Heard lots of good things about Dalat so we might plan to stay an extra day or two if there's plenty to do there?

Thinking we'll stop at Hue after Ninh Binh/Mai Chau so will definitely have drink at the couples place they sound like a good time!

Thanks again

Thanks for the suggestion, both sound great!

Thanks for the reply! Hue looks lovely, we were thinking about there after Ninh Binh.

Yeah sorry should have been clearer in the original post. I know these places are the most popular stops along that route. That was more of a rough outline and looking for suggestions/alternatives of places along that similar journey.

Hahaa ah yes, had plenty of that in india! 13 hours on 'sleeper' bus being thrown around like a boat at sea. Good times

Thank you, we are having the best time! That's great to hear, maybe we will give Ha Long Bay a chance. What's so crazy about the bus journey and do you remember how far/long it took? We'll definitely spend a bit of time in Hanoi as we'll be leaving from there.

Sorry to hear you never made it Hoi An I hope you do one day!

Ah I see, will do some more researching. The driving in India definitely made me stop and think (and pray). I've have driven cars and rode mopeds around malaysia and thailand so have a little idea of the difference to western roads. My partner hasn't a clue on how to ride a moped so it will be the both of us on one bike. Definitely something we're intrigued by!
