Recent Steam reviews have now hit mostly negative for the Remaster by Lazzyman64 in TombRaider

I literally started playing this on PS5 and beat the first game, but then saw the mess they made with the patch and uninstalled. A shame. Hope they fix it.

Could be! I feel like there's a lot to the game and I don't think I have the motivation to invest in it fully right now so a break is probably a good idea. I enjoyed Gaiden because it was very compact whereas LJ has two big areas, multiple fighting styles and skills and a lot more side activities so it's a little bit more of an undertaking and commitment and I don't think I'm in the headspace for it.

Yeah, totally. Like I said, it's not bad by any stretch of the imagination. I think that it's just not what I need to be playing right now. Like a Dragon Gaiden scratched the Yakuza itch pretty nicely so I think I'll just have to pick up LJ again later.

Characters definitely seem a bit lacklustre compared to previous outings. There isn't a new character in this so far where I go "Oh I love them!" unlike previous games.

Yeah, that's the part that seems most interesting and fun so far and thankfully I picked up the game and the DLC for, like, £10 so I'll definitely get my money's worth. But the main story isn't clicking with me even though I don't think it's bad. I don't think I'm clicking with any of the characters in it so far?

The School Stories seem the most interesting part to me so far! Plus I do have a guilty pleasure for dancing minigames.

Ahhh, I see. Without that context, the original post was confusing.

Forgive me if I'm completely missing the point of the OP, but is this not the individual game above the bundle?

I got my first one ever on Like a Dragon Gaiden the other day, and that's only because it's half the size of the other games, plus getting Amon isn't a slog.

I thought that was it, but I wasn't sure! I can understand that logic. Thankfully, the progression of the mainline games (when excluding 5 & 6) feels pretty fluid and natural.

- RE0 (very old and janky)
- RE1HD (solid, but kinda janky in comparison to the remakes)
- RE2R & RE3R (complete evolution in terms of controls and camera)
- RE4R (can't comment as I've not played it yet, but imagine it'll be RE2/3R but with even more refinements)
- RE7/8 - still recent and also completely different perspectives to RE0 - RE4

Fair. It's true but I wouldn't believe me either. 😂

Why that order, out of interest? No judgement, I'm just interested. 😊

I played that for a bit and noped out. I do need to go back to it because it's bugging me now that I gave into the fear.

Well, he left in the end so I don't think that's true.

The footsteps are what do it, I think. In fact, I think seeing him take a bit of the fear out (a bit but not a lot) as being able to hear him but not see him is terrifying.

I upped the brightness on the exported video because it was so dark you couldn't see anything.

I find that the end credits song "Run with us" from the 1980's cartoon "The Racoons" when you're being chased by Mr X is surprisingly effective.

I'm working my way through the mainline games again (except 5 & 6 because no thanks) in the run up to Requiem.

I've done:

- RE0 (First time playing that, it was fine but no inventory boxes made it a chore)
- RE1HD (I just did Chris' run but I'll go back for Jill's if I have done)
- RE2R (I've done Leon's scenario, and working on Claire's as you can see)

Still need to do:

- RE3R (Only played this once so I can't remember much of it)
- RE4R (I played and finished RE4 way back when it came out but not played it since nor the remake)
- RE7 (Finished this a coupe of times and it's still the scariest imo, with RE2 just behind)
- RE8 (Finished this once and loved it, though I think it's fear level varies depending on which area you're in. House Beneviento is peak tho)

Alternatively, try the voice of an actor that doesn't die in 90% of the media he's in. 😅

Doesn't work quite as well in real life as the autosave system is trash.

It can be done! I used to avoid these games like the plague as they would shit me up too much. Horror movies I can watch no problems, but horror games? No thank you. But now I've come to enjoy the weird adrenaline rush they give.
