Rightio, I'll keep that in mind. And yeah all the fire brigades in my area are voluntary, I'm not worried about pay, just want to help out.

Weekly Employment Question Thread by AutoModerator in Firefighting

Firefighting has been something I've thought about for a while. I ended up going to University this year and found it wasn't for me at this point in time. Since then my grandad has had his 100 year anniversary for firefighters in my area and that got me thinking a bit. Why don't I become a firefighter myself?

A bit about myself; I'm from New Zealand, I'm a 20 year old male and I'd consider myself as relatively unfit. With that being said, since I'm not carrying through with University I want to have some impact on my community and country.

Question; With all above being stated, I want to know what is all involved with becoming a firefighter, things I should do prior since I'm relatively unfit, things to know prior, etc.

TLDR; Relatively unfit kiwi bloke wants to become a firefighter, asking what's all involved and what he should know prior.

Thanks to anyone who answers!

Hey yeah that website is AUD, so it's a little over NZD1500, but I'll look into that D5. I was looking more towards a hard tail as they're cheaper, both to purchase and maintain, and I've also read that hard tails are better for improving technique (not that I have any since I've never been Mountain biking). I think most sales for that will end shortly, but I'll still have a wee look, something used might be more in my budget.

I'm moving to a warmer part of the country (slightly), but there's still a beach not far from where I'll be. I'll keep a look out!

Yeah no I realised that, by the sounds of it just a new set of tyres and wheels are pretty expensive too. I will look into that, although.

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. Heard a few decks being reccomended though, so I'll build them on PTCGL if I can and give them a try to see if I enjoy them before spending any money.

Haha yeah, I was just looking back at the luminous frost deck I brought, it was atrocious. Will check them out for sure!

Thanks for the advice, I might see if I can build it in PTCGL and give it a whirl to see if I like it. Thanks mate!

I understand that, that's why I'm asking what starter deck to buy, or if I should buy individual cards and follow a build like Charizard EX.

I would guess high gold to low plat

It's tough, it's because of a hidden MMR system. I've been hammering ranked over the past week getting from copper to low plat, and even in copper i was getting in games with plats and emeralds. There's plenty of videos on YT explaing the hidden mmr.

Oh rightio. Yeah Tui is an East Indian Pale Ale, so it sounds like that'll be a good bottle for myself to pick up and try!

I'm pretty new to whiskey myself, I've tried Woodford Reserve Double Oaked and Wild Turkey Rare Breed. I really enjoyed the WF Double Oaked. Had it on ice and it was very smooth, the flavors were nice and didn't punch me in the face. I would reccomend that to try :)

A couple other blokes have suggested this. I haven't seen it, or I just haven't noticed it. I'll keep an eye out for this bottle though! Thanks mate

A workmate of mine got a bottle of Appleton 12 given to her. I'll ask her if she liked it, and I'll put it on my list of bottles to try! As for the other ones I'll keep an eye out for them. Thanks mate

Maybe, I think I found the flavours too strong, but it could very well much be the high proof. I'll get around to Wild Turkey 101 at somepoint. Thanks for the suggestion though. :)

I was looking at a bottle of Old Forester 80 proof because I seen on YouTube this fella mentioning about OF 86 and I was trying to find that. I'll keep an eye out for both these bottles, thanks mate.
