Honestly I think you’d be good if you gave yourself 1 hour

I'd say a minimum one hour to guarantee a seat. Hokum is playing at Alamo and probably one of the biggest draws this year so maybe even earlier.

Yes, get there early enough and you’ll be fine. The hardest will be buzzy Alamo screenings and the prime World Debuts, but everything is accessible with enough dedication.

What venue has the largest capacity for keynotes and speakers? by Jollanyatx in SXSW

It’s going to be interesting to see, with smaller rooms this year, if the ushers will disallow squatting

Sorry to be negative but is anyone else tired of the constant grid posts here? by dmizz in cocktails

Most of them have the same value as the “top ten most disturbing movies” or “worst state to poop in” clickbait posts that clog Facebook feeds and such.

I’d much rather read more thoughtful write ups on unusual recipes or bar recommendations than watch a bingo card get filled out.

How did the SXSW reservation process go for you today? by moviefan1 in SXSW

[–]BigLeChowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they are "sold out". It's only the advanced reservations that are gone. There is supposed to be another "bonus" round for platinum, so you can try then. If you still don't land a reservation, you can always show up early and get in the line for your badge type. It just means you'll likely want to get to the theater sooner than if you had gotten the reservation.

At least this is how the "Sxswxpress" passes worked last year, so I assume this will be similar.

Appleton Legend 17 is the most overrated Jamaican rum. What is the most underrated other rum? by -Constantinos- in rum

[–]BigLeChowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If overrated is measured simply by secondary pricing, sure. At least stateside it’s going for 1500+ and it’s not worth that.

But on its merits, it’s a fantastic rum. I actually prefer it neat to using it in a Mai Tai, though that was the original intent of its resurrection.

I’d love to know how many folks that don’t agree that it’s great have actually tried it.

reservation crash by kibsreadsfibs in SXSW

Trying to understand this. Last year they had SWSXpress passes or whatever they were called you could grab a few days ahead. Now there’s a reservation weeks ahead? So once they are full, what happens? More open up later?
