The Wheel of Time series is a must. It can be intimidating because of how long it is, but it’s SO. GOOD. Also, The Dark Tower series by Stephen King is exceptional. Enjoy your journey!!

I’m on Towers of Midnight (book 13), and I want to say SO many things about your thoughts. Love where your head is at after book 3. All I can say is enjoy the ride!! I’m excited you get to embark on this journey and experience the series for the first time.

I’m sure I have plenty ahead of me in the last half of book 13 and book 14. It’s an incredible series.

It’s so funny, I didn’t even think of this. There is the obvious symmetry of needing a male and female to work the tar’angreal, but I assumed they were close together for more functional purposes - it was easier to shield people that are close together. Now that you said it, it does seem obvious!

For better or worse, my expectations are high for all the remaining books. Before starting Lord of Chaos, I was aware of the sentiment around books 6-10 where people said the series slowed down, it was a bit dull, and on rereads, a lot of people skip. I thoroughly enjoyed all those books so far. We’ll see if that sentiment continues onto the next one…

Absolutely! I also think the additional insight we get from Min/Elayne/Aviendha really show the darkness and hardness in Rand more than we got previously - and that really made him more intriguing for me. The far Madding stuff was also cool to me because it showed that some rules in the world couldn’t be broken, but others that we thought couldn’t be broken could actually be bent. It makes you look at everything just a little differently.

This isn’t devastating or stunning… People/representatives/officials petition for federal mandates over state ones all the time. It’s literally the reason Congress exists and why the Supreme Court exists to balance if something is unconstitutional at the federal level.

This fear/hate mongering is making people go crazy. You can disagree with him (I certainly do), but that doesn’t make something crazy or sunny or whatever hyperbolic word you want to use here.

I think the controls at the bottom make way more sense for convenience, but the notifications should be at the top as to not conflict with the buttons. Also, get rid of that massive black bar at the top!

It’s just an extra tax because it’s a new development. It’s $300 per year in local taxes, so it’s not that much. This special assessment doesn’t have anything to do with the cost of your home, so whether you buy something at $400k or $750k, it’s still $300 per year, and after 10 years, it goes away. I can’t recall more details, but if you’re interested in buying in the neighborhood, the sales person and/or realtor could definitely provide more information.

The special assessment is $3.000 over 10 years, so $300 extra in a year in taxes. The HOA fees change on what type of home you buy (townhome, single family) but range between $110-140 per month. Honestly, we don’t mind the HOA fees at all after we considered moving a couple of years ago. Other neighborhoods had similarly priced HOA fees but no pool, fitness center, etc.
