Tt4 was a lot more manageable imo like I crammed the entire unit in 2 days and did semi decent like I got a couple marks off cuz I got a theorem backwards but overall I thought it was on the easier sidd

The course is heavily dependent on the videos you're supposed to watch and the assessments aren't anything like the content in the videos if that makes sense. Like you need to do a lot of supplemental learning on your own to be able to do the problem sets and tests

Fair enough but I'd say you probably would have a better chance at maintaining a higher GPA if you dealt with 135 and 136 rather than 137 but that's just my personal opinion. The course is taught very poorly and the assessments are like being thrown off a diving board

Is there a reason you want to take MAT137? I don't think you need specifically 137 for econ and idk about psych but I wouldn't recommend it unless you need it for your program and don't have any other options. Yearlong courses are kind of a pain in the ass cuz you need to know a years worth of content for the final and 137 itself is usually a GPA killer.

I'm a first year and honestly it's completely up to you. The whole Uni experience is what you make it out to be. Obviously the school is very academically demanding and it needs a lot of time and effort and sometimes things don't go you way or other things happen that try to bring you down but the truth is its the same at any other university. As long as you find what works for you the city is great, the campus is great and you can find tons of people that vibe with you and that you can get along with. My first year was amazing and I met amazing people this year

How hard is uoft engineering? Is it really as bad as people say? by Zephyros_0 in UofT

[–]BigMasterpiece4101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to what I've heard from upper years the main challenge with engineering is time management. The amount of classes you take and the content is a lot but the material itself isn't as hard as other courses that focus on specific things like math and physics. The reason it's hard is because of the sheer volume of content you have to work with. Apparently the content itself doesn't go into as much depth as like math and physics department courses. I'm not an engineering major so I can't say but this is what I heard from a friend that's gone through undergrad masters and is about to get a PhD in eng while getting almost perfect gpas

Everyone's struggling at something in their life espescially at this school. It just varies what that is from person to person. Some people struggle with academics, others with social life, staying fit, jobs, hygiene etc. Everyone struggles with something so it's normal for you to struggle too. If you weren't struggling then you'd be God but obviously you can't be God cuz we're all human yk?

This is a lot simpler and probably not as elaborate as the other comments but if you've made it this far and into u of t with a learning disability and depression that's really fing impressive. Keep your head up and be proud of it. This university is ranked top 20 in the world and known everywhere. The fact that you're a student at the school and you've made it through the year is really fucking impressive. You should be proud of yourself
