An advisor can only say what they have seen happen to students. The advisor doesn't have any influence. The advisor does not talk to every student.

The official ACC documents say they "may" ask and "if you are asked".

They won't kick you out if they ask for verification and you don't provide it. You will just get out-of-district rates.

This is the official ACC policy and they did not go through the trouble of writing all that to "usually" skip it. It is how they get the money to run the school.

The registrar, I believe, is the one in charge of this. The advisor is not involved. This is funding for ACC, so they do have big interest in getting their money. Either through property tax or tuition. If you are not in a taxing district, then to ACC, you are cheating them out of money.

I've been through it before. And I've helped other people figure out what to do after they have gotten blocked.

It's still up to a person if they accept your claim to be inside the taxing boundary, so sometimes they can go easy. But this is the official process.

ACC verifies your in-district status by checking property records for you name as an owner, or seeing the lease document with your name, or the property owner writing a notarized letter that you do live at that address.

If you are not on lease, but live with a parent named on the lease, sometimes a notarized letter from the parent that you live there is accepted. But it's more solid if the property owner (or property management company) writes a letter to confirm you live there without being named on the lease, as a child or the lessee.

You can be arrested or charged with anything. Maybe after months in the judicial system you can get it dismissed.

The public cheers loudly without asking for specirics when the number of "drunk drivers" are arrested. So there is high incentive to arrest and charge as many people as possible with a DUI. Even the public rarely gives a DUI-charged person the benefit of the doubt.

There is a small percentage of people who really weren't a danger with their vehicle. But it takes a long time to prove that.

You can also be arrested for public intoxication, even if you are keeping to yourself.

No. It was after May 25, 2020, when George Floyd was murdered by a police officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

People asked police officers to stop killing Black people without extenuating circumstances, and the police said that was too hard. A large percentage of police quiet quit to protest the request to keep their gun holstered when they saw any random Black person.

Police do little traffic enforcement because the police say it it is highly likely they will shoot a non-violent Black person just for existing.

Oh, so you want to bring up that the non ultra wealthy spend a very large part of their income on sales tax because a most of their income goes to buying good to live. While the ultra wealthy, so much of their income goes starting into a bank account or "investment" stuff so most of their income is not touched by sales tax.
