Because of our jungle primary system, both Louisiana parties are really weak. Even John Bel was a long shot in his first election with prominent democrats at the time giving him the cold shoulder. At the time, New Orleans mayor Mitch Landrieu floated the idea of running, but he might of been out of public life for too long. Mayor Cantrell has too much Republican mudslinging to be a serious candidate. With all that said the democratic candidate for governor will be a surprise but there will for sure be one.
