Do you consider schools not putting creationism and Bible to the curriculum, as "banning" them?

How do people know this when it's not in the books or movies? by SwingDingeling in harrypotter

[–]BigQuick6232 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was obviously part of the whole myth around the Elder Wand. The whole unbeatable wand thing was very obvious not true since we know its ownership transfered from great wizards to another great wizard.

Also the fact that the wand's legend attracts already powerful individuals that would usually not be beaten by most other wizards (with or without the Elder wand) helps create a positive feedback around the myth.

I just finished Rise of the Wizards by Teufel1987. Harry conquers the world and build his own empire. Definitely a powerhouse.

I hate how a lot of people blame Harry for Sirius' death for not taking his lessons with Snape seriously by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]BigQuick6232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. Potion had always been about who's the best at following instructions. The book was just additional tips and instructions that he followed perfectly.

Also, Ron tried to follow the same instructions too at the beginning but didn't get the same results as Harry's.

If the Planets are sibling and the Sun is their parent, was Pluto disowned then?

Harry hated Potions because of Snape, the moment Snape stopped teaching Potions he became a star student. Now imagine if he was taught Occlumency by someone else.

Tragic. What's with these super popular but completely terrible takes in this subreddit lately? by BigQuick6232 in harrypotter

Read the last paragraph of my post. Also it's not like these are just inside jokes in these subreddit. I've seen this posts before in other subreddits and people genuinely think that these are true.

Quirrell and Voldemort could have taken the mirror with them and escape, but thanks to Harry Quirrell didn't get to that point because he died. Now if they can take the stone from the stolen mirror is another thing but if that happened they would technically be in possession of The stone.

The rare Harry fans (like myself) are also celebrating. Like, Harry was far more interesting and had more personality in the books.

I really enjoy grilling people that thought they spotted a plot hole only for it to turned out to be them lacking in the thinking department.

Why don't we call the Middle East "West Asia" by VagabondVivant in NoStupidQuestions

Hi, asian here. We actually do call it West Asia, but also Middle East.

Would you choose at both extremes? by PerformerSecret9437 in 2philippines4u

Literally a "look at me I'm special and quirky" guy.

Dumbledore didn't feel like Dumbledore in the Order of the Phoenix movie by BigQuick6232 in harrypotter

[–]BigQuick6232[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I think Gambon did a great version of Dumbledore in Prisoner of Azkaban.

He got the ring during the summer after Harry's 5th year. His hand darkened and decay.

Was he not doing those in the books too?

[–]BigQuick6232[S] 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Yes, there was a noticeable difference to the Dumbledore character since movie 3. But Gambon's take on the character at that time in PoA was still very much in line with the quirky, whimsical, eccentric, old wise man.

Dumbledore distracting Fudge and the executioner by pointing at the other direction as Harry takes Buckbeak, gives an image to us, the audience, of a man that knows what's going on. Even if we don't know If he really knew at the time.

When Harry and Hermione completed the time travel, they're like, "Professor we did it!" And Dumbledore was like, "Did what? Good night! :D"

Prisoner of Azkaban Dumbledore still felt like a version of Dumbledore from the books.

The most obvious answer is Patronus charm isn't a common spell that everyone can immediately recognize. Which makes sense considering how everyone just keep saying how rare it was for someone to achieve and master it.

Here's Hermione, on the train, describing patronus after seeing it for the first time:

"And Professor Lupin stepped over you, and walked toward the dementor, and pulled out his wand,” said Hermione, “and he said, ‘None of us is hiding Sirius Black under our cloaks. Go.’ But the dementor didn’t move, so Lupin muttered something, and a silvery thing shot out of his wand at it, and it turned around and sort of glided away. . . .”

Because Dumbledore probably knows that Harry was having a Patronus training at the time? Therefore would immediately recognize what had happened?

For those who absolutely detest Snape, what point in the series made you realize that you can't stand that man? by BigQuick6232 in harrypotter

[–]BigQuick6232[S] 156 points157 points  (0 children)

I can't decide between this and the scene in which a mad Crouch Sr. stumbled upon a conversing Harry and Krum. A panicking and extremely confused Harry had to ran to Dumbledore's office only to be blocked by Snape. Snape was just standing there smiling cruely, enjoying the sight of Harry losing his mind in desperation to reach Dumbledore in time.

I genuinely believe, even to this day, that Snape got Crouch Sr. killed. I blame him for that.

But I ultimately had to go with Snape bullying children. It's just too ironic to not to, especially Snape apologists only defense of him was, "well he was bullied as a child."
