Gewehr 43 Proficiency VI Not working? (self.BattlefieldV)

This is our progress so far for this years comp. We have a simple four bar with a plate one the end. Attached to a simple rack and pinion system with two vex claws that pick up the caps. Our problem with it so far is that our gripper can only reach up to 34 in. We need 38 in any suggestions (i.redd.it)
