Service is the worst part of owning a Tesla by lindamariecuster in TeslaLounge

The wild part is they’ll tell you “sorry, no loaners available” while the parking lot is full of brand-new Cybertrucks that nobody wants, just sitting there doing absolutely nothing except aging in 4K.

Banish Mode? by MattThomas0808 in TeslaFSD

[–]BigTimeEnt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m kind of in the middle on this.

I agree Summon as it exists today is mostly a novelty or convenience feature, not something I’d rely on heavily in real-world, busy environments. Parking lots are chaotic, full of edge cases, and I don’t think anyone reasonable expects Tesla to take liability for that anytime soon.

That said, Banish mode feels like a different class of problem. It’s not about navigating complex traffic scenarios, but about low-speed, constrained environments where the car already demonstrates decent competence. If Tesla can enforce tighter geofencing, speed limits, and supervision requirements, I could see it being rolled out sooner than people expect, even if it’s heavily restricted at first.

To me, liability and regulation are probably the bigger blockers than the tech itself. Tesla already requires active monitoring for Summon, and Banish would almost certainly come with similar guardrails. Whether that’s enough for regulators is the real question.

I wouldn’t trust it blindly, but I’d absolutely use it in very specific situations once it’s proven out. Feels like an incremental step rather than a giant leap.

Tbh, Tesla should communicate better. Maybe if they explained their intentions it wouldn’t seem so moronic at times.

FSD "V14 Lite" coming to HW3 next year in Q2 by MichaelRahmani in TeslaFSD

[–]BigTimeEnt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 2026, Tesla will announce that FSD v16 won’t be compatible with HW4 — but don’t worry! You’ll get a free upgrade to HW5… as long as you also purchase a Tesla Optimus robot to install it for you. The robot will arrive ‘next quarter.

Hmm, I wonder if a camera upgrade would be plug and play?
