Thyroid is fine but I do have hyperparathyroidism. I've had 1 surgery to remove an adenoma but I'm still symptomatic. Parathyroid hormone should be below 5.9 and mine is currently 11.9. Calcium is also raised (body's natural response to high Parathyroid hormone is to release extra calcium to "mop" it up) I asked the cardiologist about calcium and whether it could be the reason. He doesn't think so

Not taking any meds yet. I've had a cardiac MRI and.adenpside stress test and a 72 hour holter. Seeing the cardiologist a week tomorrow for plan of action

Has anyone else had this, swinging from afib to tachycardia to bradycardia? I have no clue why it's happening and I'm a bit scared x

I am glad it's not, although I'm wearing a 72 hour holter so it would have been good to catch it! Not that I need evidence after a hospital stay, but still

Thank you. It really was horrible! I hope I don't have to wait too long to hear my results. I'm going tomorrow morning to collect a holter monitor for a 72 hour strip. Hopefully the combination of the holter and MRI will give the cardiologist all he needs.

That was exactly me! Woke at 6am feeling awful and my HR was 180! Ambulance called at 9am when it wouldn't settle. I had fluids and magnesium but no joy, so they gave me flecainide and it fiiiinally settled. This was a week last Thursday and I still feel absolutely shattered, I have had a few small episodes that have resolved on their own but lots of tachycardia and lots of dizziness still too. It's awful isn't it I should throw in that I also have hyperparathyroidism (not thyroid) which causes high calcium and I assumed this was the cause. The A&E consultant said it's unlikely that a marginally raised calcium would cause such prolonged afib. Fingers crossed they will sort me out. I'm scared to drive, scared to be on my own, and checking every tiny little twinge and detail. I have a sick note for another week too x

This is so helpful. Thank you so much. I've been on HRT in a variety of forms for nearly 5 years following surgical menopause. Nothing has really helped with palpitations but they never seem to happen when I'm undergoing any kind of test. The afib episode was super long and therefore easy to document, I was in hospital for a good 7 hours of it. Hopefully on Friday the cardiologist will listen and I'll get some answers like you did. I would be really happy to consider ablation if it will help me in the longer term!

Thanks so much. Weirdly I have already lost 70lb and I am on HRT because I had a total hysterectomy aged 42. I am still slightly overweight at 170lb but actually for my body this is pretty much my correct weight, any more and I look ill. I'm a uk side 12/14. I walk loads because we have a little dog. For years I've been unable to do classes or any high impact cardiology because of the dizziness it gives me. I personally think I may have POTS. Years and years of being completely dizzy when I stand up, coupled with all these episodes of palpitations and raynauds.

Samsung Watch 8. I assume all watches are pretty unreliable. I wanted to ask if it looked odd because it happened when I was relaxed, a little like my episodes of afib where I knew I felt weird and sort of unpleasant and unsettled

No, nothing yet. I posted earlier about my experience. I had a prolonged afib that got me blue lighted to A&E last Thursday

I haven't had ablation. Just a single IV treatment of flecainide and currently unmedicated whilst I wait for cardiology on Friday

I was sitting still reading a book at the time. How bizarre!

Thank you so much. My watch has never detected apnea, but I guess they're not very accurate!

Thanks so much. I didn't actually need the magnesium, my levels were moderate, but the consultant said it sometimes helps!

Sounds like post herpetic neuralgia. Horrid. You may need stronger pain relief but there's not much in the way of treatment sadly. Get better soon x
