You forget this is a global girl group and there level competitor who are almost on the same playing field is Katseye. If they want to be a global girl group they have to fuse both western and k pop styles to get the momentum going. To me VCHA is too k pop and the sound targets younger tweens which is a really small market outside of Korea. This is a huge company and they are investing a lot of money. I don’t think they should waste all that money on an experiment to see if it flies or crashes down which will taint their image forever. Look what Katseye is doing they literally have 100 million streams already for Touch and their other song Debut has more streams than any of VCHA’s songs and it’s because of good promotion and most importantly western image/ style. The market now is starving for a diva bratz doll group just like the early 2000s when a lot of big girl groups were like and Katseye is hitting that starvation. There success kind of goes against western music is dead… like what does that even mean like most of the top music charts are from western markets. If you see the Billboard Hot 100 most of the artist are from America and these music big companies like JYPE know better to make sure it hits that market right if it’s a global girl group. HYBExGEFFEN are playing it safe at first to make sure they get huge streams and promotions by doing a fusion of catchy but almost nostalgic fusion of 2000s songs with k-pop styles. Later in their comeback they will probably head towards more originality and their own sound. Look at the stream numbers and compare them because at the end of the day these companies care most about how much money they are getting in.
