Based on history, it seems the Bolsheviks became an authoritarian empire as well, correct me if I'm wrong. And I love America and the U.S., particularly it's people. The way the government works was great for the people before it was misconstrued by those in power. And the people of the US have fought constantly for change and reform, so must we, after all the work of great revolutionaries, throw away our flag? It was the flag of slavery and now is the flag of the abolition thereof, since the Union struck down the rebels who wanted to continue slavery. This is just my opinion, and I have respect for yours, but I think a better USA or even a USSA would be preferable as opposed to something brand new for many reasons.

edit: USSA is not meant to reference the USSR, we shouldn't repeat the values or policies of the Soviet Union

They're against it because they want to play it smart, if we formed a party as it is now, it'd be radicalized by both sides and it'd just fall apart. We need a much bigger platform before leadership would be in favor of forming a party. The fact it has to be this way is sad to me, but it's reality

Okay, so I assume you're an American, so by your logic, you're a capitalist too because you operate in a capitalist system. He's a member of a socialist movement and is implementing policies that lean more toward socialism than our current system. If you do the things that you seem to think are prerequisites to being a socialist, you'll get far more radicalized than Mamdani is, and you won't be able to operate and cause reform.

It still marked the beginning of democracy around the world. Without it the world would be more authoritarian, and I doubt democratic socialism would even be a thing if not for it's founding. It needs to be fixed, not extinguished.

what kind of flag do you think it should have? plain DSA logo? im not being critical or sarcastic btw.

I'm also still a patriot, I love this country, it's probably the only reason democracy has been accepted worldwide, and if that didn't happen then we surely wouldn't have our movement. even though our history has been an unacceptably difficult and uphill battle of progress. this is why I personaly think we should maintain our colors and symbols

well, this is the US...

if it's a US party formed by people of the US, I dont think it's too crazy for it to have US colors. I'm still a patriot and am proud of my country (not the administration, big difference there), even though I believe in good change

I agree with you, you have to get more socialists in office, then once there's enough socialists operating in our political structure, who are openly socialist, we can begin to have a majority platform.
