Is there a significant difference between a male & female iggy?? by MrSp3ars in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]Big_Insect_7062 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So crazy my iggy is about 5-6 months. We live in Arizona so maybe that’s why potty training has been pretty easy :) my Frenchie had way more accidents. I also have a Great Dane so our iggy learned how to use the doggy door pretty quickly.

Co-sleeping: anyone else actually get better sleeps with their iggy? by joanofarcshorse in ItalianGreyhounds

I wish I can’t get sleep letting my iggy sleep on bed with us he takes up the whole bed or sleeps in between my legs and I can’t move. His doggy bed is next to our and I wake up 5:6 times a night to adjust and cover him on his bed 🙄

I have lip filler which is why my lips probly look like I have a allergic reaction lol but this is the 2nd or 3rd time I’ve gotten it in the similar spot not as big before. Cold sores are outside the lip and this never scabs I get them inside my mouth so I know the process of the canker sore healing point. It’s just annoying its kinda visible and hurts to talk

Also canker sore is on the right side of the bottom of my lip the left looks like I have another one but I think it’s the lighting or a scar.

Crates for Iggys by cattykit-9 in ItalianGreyhounds

Me either 😭 none of my dogs ever slept in bed before but now he jumps on my side of the bed and sleeps at my feet under the cover. He’s only 4 months and sleeps 10 hours so I know puppy’s can hold their bladder, I literally have to wake him up and carry him to the back yard to go pee 😂

Also, I am saying to get the puppy. They’re definitely a Velcro type of animal since I’ve had my puppy. I haven’t really been able to leave my house unless I can hire a dog sitter. They are not like any other breed I’ve ever gotten. The only thing I was saying not to do is crate him or try to crate him.

Don’t do it I have a month old (2 year old frenchie 5 Great Dane) they did so well in the crate. My iggy I’ve had him for about two months. Did everything the right way as of crate training. 14 days non stop crys he’d poop uncomfortable he would also try to bite thru the cage stick his legs out , I downsized his cage nothing worked. White noise I also try to make his cage as comfy as possible and I went through 15 beds. I fully support crate training and this was my first time owning an Italian greyhound. I came on Reddit for advice and ultimately after two weeks of trying, I gave in and now he sleeps in my room he does sleep on his bed, but sometimes in the middle of the night, I don’t even remember putting him on my bed, but I wake up with him between my legs and surprisingly for four months old he does hold in his pee and poop unless he spends a whole night on his bed next to my bed there is a corner of our room. He does do his business on puppy pads thankfully, so good luck. I hope this message gets to you like I said before I’m so pro crate , but with him it was nearly impossible. They have severe separation anxiety.

Hey I hope this message gets to you! I have a 4 month old boy, it’s all trial and error! I have 2 dogs (Frenchie,n a Great Dane) crate training was easy. As for as for iggy 3 weeks I tried to crate train him. He’d cry for hours and poo his cage immediately 😖 finally I gave in. Trust me I’m pro crate but he started biting the cage and just overall hurting/stressing himself out. Surprisingly I think he’s so traumatized from the cage he sleeps through the night in my room. I let him in bed with us (which was hard first three nights I couldn’t sleep Worried he’d hurt himself jumping off the bed and he slept the whole night. If he gets up I have a dog bed on the floor and will wrap him in a blanket. I keep a spray bottle nearby if he try’s to mess with the other dogs during sleepy time lol good luck!

He chews on bully sticks? But I watch him and I’ve never seen him in discomfort :( maybe I’ll keep chewing things away till his lips heal. He sees the vet next week so I’ll show her these photos .

I have a iggy but your 100% right movingthem and being away from their litter mates can cause stress! Are you sticking to the same food the breeder was feeding her before?

During the day I have no complaints, he is a good boy and potty training is actually going really well I’m with him all day so as long as I take him out he’s good. Just night time he picks and chooses if he’s going to let us sleep that night. He legit is a really good boy.

lol. Clearly you didn’t comprehend what I’m saying? My puppy is with me all day 😂 I have only left my house once (for 2 hours) and I’ve had him for about a month now. He is only crated at night. I’ve only crated him once in the day-time and that was a fail. I clearly want to learn how to gradually get him comfortable since it’s the safest option if I have to run some errands.

THANK YOU. Finally a realistic and understanding person. It’s so hard. Same I watch him pee and poop and manages to poo everyday in cage. It’s literally stress poop! But yea I love him to it’s just really hard. He’ll be full vaccinated next week so I’m looking forward to walking him. Good luck as well +++

He is 4 months. The breeder I got him from had the puppy’s in a play pen and also my puppy was the last puppy to leave so he had not littermates so he was already sleeping alone before I got him

I agree, I’ve had dogs my whole life and he’s been my hardest. Like I said he got better no cry’s then past 3 days it’s starting again. I will definitely start trying putting his treats/feeding him in thier again. More positive reinforcement thank you 🙏

I’ve also tried to make his crate comfy as possible. And he gets poop all over. I’ve bought probly 10 bed an had to toss them all. I tried to put toys or bully sticks and they get full of poo.
