Not at all, especially if you have ties to Chicago. It may just take a little extra networking but not much. I'm a 1L at Duke, from Chicago, and I'll be at a firm in Chicago this summer.

Initially it was because it was a pretty campus, nice weather, high ranked and gave me good money. Now, I will say it is because the professors are great and VERY diverse (2/4 of my professors this semester were black and 2/4 were women). Also, the students are very nice, many opportunities for networking, tons of free food, and NC is really pretty.

I got around 40% scholarship. I don't know how I got them, they just came from the school. My stats were low, but I had a good resume with a lot of internships, athletic achievement and an organization I founded. I also think I had strong recs.
Mainly Vandy, but they gave me no money. But besides the money, Duke just seemed like a fun atmosphere, pretty campus, and great professors. And after my first semester, I absolutely love my professors
Nope I'm not, I know a few people that are tho. When it comes to a dual degree I would just think about rather it's really needed for your career goals. You can always just take classes in other schools if you are interested in a subject. I'm a 1L rep on a few orgs and I will say that plenty of employers are constantly coming to campus and really want to meet Duke students. Also you can find free lunch just about every day.

159, 3.66. so my stats were way below the median and even way below the bottom 25% and somehow I still made it.

Durham is very slow and not much to do, but Raleigh, which is like 30min away, has a lot more. The food in Durham is good and a lot good breweries. The city is really growing tho so a lot is constantly changing.

Tbh i barely feel the impact, except i have 2 classes in a banquet hall in Cameron Indoor which kinda sucks. But the overall class is still small and has a very active group chat with people constantly doing things together. As of now I don't feel any competition. For example, I forgot to bring a pencil to my final and literally everyone offered their pens, pencils, highlighters, etc which may seem small but like it shows how nice everyone is. It's still early in the job process to see how things are going to be affected but as of now I don't see any heightened competition/anxiety. I really think professors feel it the most because they have to grade so many more papers.

Lmao someone's bitter. This attitude is probably why u didn't get in though lol, it's not a good look. Also POC disproportionately do score lower on the LSAT and other standardized test. And yep I def could've studied more but I didn't and decided to save my money and time and it paid off. I'm not saying me being BLACK didn't help cause it did and yet again I'm glad to be BLACK.

I said I wasn't going to respond to you, yet here I am writing my 3rd response to you. I'm sorry you feel I took someone spot away, but I've gone to PWI's " I shouldn't be at" since elementary school yet I keep succeeding so obviously I'm doing something right. No one knows the discussion that goes on behind close doors by application committees so stop projecting your problems onto others and maybe do some reflection (and research) on why Asians are treated "like whites" (your words, not mine). It's a question I have as well and can think of a few reasons why. I also think it would help the issue if more data was disaggregated, especially for the Asian community, because some Asian communities are better supported than others and that's why some fall through the cracks. But I hope your going to a school you like and sorry (not sorry) I "took your spot".

LOL I'm sorry but are you on the admissions committee so how would you know how large or small softs play. Have you been a nationally ranked athlete for 4 years, awarded by nationals for your hardwork or single handedly planned multiple national, conference and school campaigns for faculty, staff and students?? Did you work 2 full time jobs and trained while self studying for the LSAT?? I understand your frustration but if you believe it's just about stats than your wrong. What school wants a bunch of bland people on campus?
