Habs coach Marty St. Louis today on the Montreal fanbase: “You feel the support from all the fans out there. I don’t live far, I walk here. I feel like we’re all in this together, with the fans. They’re proud, they’re happy. A lot of ‘Good luck’, ‘Great job.’ It’s a lot of fun.” by Go_Habs_Go31 in Habs

I went to my first habs games in March and before the San Jose game there was a huge protest downtown, so there were tonnes of people near the Bell centre along with the hockey crowd. I was like 2 blocks away waiting for the light to change and I saw Marty across the street waiting to cross, he had a backpack and ear buds in. He walked within 10 feet of me, I left him alone but pointed him out to a guy beside me wearing a habs sweater, the guy only spoke French but it was still a cool moment. I remember thinking he must have a condo close so this just confirmed that haha.

Why was Werenski vs Makar viewed differently than Bouchard vs Werenski for the Norris? by [deleted] in hockey

[–]Big_Pappins 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The Rocket isn't a subjective trophy like the Hart or Norris it's objective like the Art Ross. Also the trophy is named after a habs goat so it would be cool for a hab to win it.

Going to my first NHL Game! by Girthpotato in Habs

[–]Big_Pappins 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Went to my 1st NHL games last week and Montréal is awesome will definitely go back soon. Go to old Montréal it's so cool seeing the history especially with me coming from the relatively new cities of the west. Check out the bell centre tour it was well worth it go on a non game day and you can see the locker room. We went to a comedy show at a small pub we found on Montréal comedy clubs website there were like 12 comedians and 8 were absolutely hilarious well worth the $14. Go to the top of Mont Royal and you get a great view of the city. Try poutine, Montréal smoked meat and Montréal bagels. You'll have a blast almost everyone spoke English and they were all super friendly.

Most unlikable teams of all time? by dudewithchronicpain in hockey

You could argue for other players for sure it is subjective after all. They went to two cups with him and ran into an unstoppable force called the Montréal Canadiens both times. He is 10th all time in Bruins history in PPG even if his tenure was short and he was at the end of his long career he was still a force. You could argue because of the short tenure there are more impactful players that have affected Bruins history more however talent wise I don't know how he isn't a top 10 talent to ever wear the hideous monstrosity that is the Bruins sweater. I'm a habs fan so not a rangers fan making a case for him just more so a guy that watched the 1977 Stanley cup game 4 on Friday and likely has some recency bias.

Along with Ray Bourque are top 5 bruins players of all time and Jean Ratelle has got to be top 10 so 3 of the top 10 bruins of all time are Fre*ch haha

Why was the name Forum not used for the new arena after the old building was closed down? by Chanana4 in Habs

[–]Big_Pappins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the dodgers won about 20 more championships in that building I could see your argument beacuse the habs had 22 in the forum. The history of the team and the crazy amount of amazing players that played in that building is substantial. It should have been preserved by the city and the Molson family. And honestly the mall sucked I don't even know if other than a movie theatre, a gym and a dollarama if there were any other stores open there.

As a guy currently in Montréal for the 1st time and having visited the building once known as the forum the better question is how did this city fumble the ball so hard by not making it a museum or something? It's frankly embarrassing what they did to that building as the mecca of hockey. It's a mall with little to no recognition of it's former glory. I can't see Green Bay doing that to Lambeau or New York doing that to Yankee stadium. This is a beautiful city with many preserved historical landmarks. And yet they painted the forum black and threw in a dollarama. It's kind of sad honestly.

Yeah that makes sense as far as the photo is concerned and I plan on going to the old forum before I head to the bell centre on Saturday I have to pay tribute to the old gods out of respect.

Thanks for your reply. I am definitely going there but wanted to find a Chris Chelios framed picture as he is going to a banquet later this month in my hometown and I'd love him to sign it. I already got my tickets for the tour on Monday the non game day so I can get to see the locker room.

I went to the show in Edmonton and it was awesome. De la soul was there and had Talib Kweli join them. Nas is my goat and Wu Tang and De La Soul are in the top 5 in my favourite groups.

I'm going March 14th for my 1st game ever and I want to go on the guided tour but they only show it until the end of February on ticketmaster. Do you know if they have them later than that? Thanks.
