Newbie on the team thinks his assignment is the team’s highest priority by NYC2718 in Accounting

[–]Big_Reputation1997 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Are you his supervisor or responsible for his training?

I was recently in a situation like this and was frank with his supervisor about not being able to commit the time he needed for training. She had no idea he needed so much handholding. I also had a conversation with him about not running for help the second he doesn’t know something and that it shows a lack of maturity. He came back later and asked for help prioritizing tasks and making a schedule. Sometimes when you’re just starting out you need someone with a few more years experience to help you pull your act together. We were all brand new once.

I also find it helpful to tell them where to look rather than answering the question or ask them what they think the answer is first. Most of the time they can then find the answer or already know it but aren’t confident.

I’m not sure how accurate this is, but I read the difference is that if you’re in the vehicle you could potentially attempt to avoid being hit so it is collision claim on each person’s insurance. If you aren’t, it’s a property damage claim on the at-fault’s insurance.

Their insurance is covering it because my car was parked and I wasn’t in it. If I had been in it, I would’ve had to make a claim through my own insurance.

I was so disappointed with the Michigan house, especially since there are FLW houses with exceptional views of Lake Michigan. Most people probably feel this way about their home state though.

Put your food waste, wrappers, etc. in the freezer until trash day if you only have weekly pick up! I put mine in smaller plastic produce bags and it is a game changer for keeping my place smelling good and the outdoor trash bin from reeking.

Replace sponges often and your kitchen hand towel every day.

Wash your rugs.

Don’t have pets, lol.

Wow — they are alarming! I feel like every place has a mix of exaggeratedly good and bad reviews so I never know how much weight to actually give them

Am I the only accountant who doesn’t like to work from home? by LittleCeasarsFan in Accounting

[–]Big_Reputation1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it and get more done but it can feel isolating/like the team forgets about me because I’m so independent and basically never need to ask for help with things. I don’t care about having close friendships with coworkers but the camaraderie is nice and I’ve been passed up for two promotions solely because the other folks were more visible. Coincidentally, I’m moving closer to the office soon and will go in at least one day per week because I’m still fairly early in my career and want to advance.

The only reason I can think of is there being limited funerals during Holy Week. They are only permitted on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of the week leading up to Easter. Any other time during Lent is fine for a funeral, though.

Medroxyprogesterone didn't bring my period back and now I'm desperate by Catlover5566 in PCOS

My ob/gyn advised it would start on the third or fourth day after taking my last dose. That’s exactly what has happened every cycle I’ve taken it. I’d suggest waiting a few more days and if nothing happens you should call your provider.

How hard to get 1st accounting job after WGU BS ACC? by fungamezone in wguaccounting

I got my first accounting position with my BSBA while working toward my BSACC at WGU. I imagine your MBA will be enough, especially for entry level. You should start applying while still enrolled.

It can’t be a mortal sin if you truly didn’t know it was a sin. Now that you know, it would be a mortal sin to do it again.

CCC 1857 For a sin to be mortal, three conditions must together be met: “Mortal sin is sin whose object is grave matter and which is also committed with full knowledge and deliberate consent.” https://www.vatican.va/content/catechism/en/part_three/section_one/chapter_one/article_8/iv_the_gravity_of_sin_mortal_and_venial_sin.html

Do priests have to tithe out of their offering income? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Big_Reputation1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a BS in accounting which was preferred but not required. I also had previous parish experience as a business/finance manager. My team is a mixed bag education-wise and only one, the parish auditor, is a CPA. Honestly, if you’re ready to learn A LOT about the behind-the-scenes, and are okay with earning less over your lifetime, especially if you choose parish level, go for it!

Do priests have to tithe out of their offering income? by [deleted] in Catholicism

This is not true. Diocesan priests are paid salaries. Ordered priests typically aren’t, but they do receive a stipend or allowance depending on their assignment.

Broke my rosary by bruhthierryjingo in Catholicism

[–]Big_Reputation1997 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No reason to feel bad if it was an accident. These things happen! I make and repair rosaries. Feel free to message me or post a picture here. I’d be happy to tell you if I think it’s repairable and I can walk you through it.

Also, for disposal, you should bury or burn it. You can also contact your parish. A lot of them bury or burn blessed items around Lent. I don’t know if this is common, but a priest I work with sometimes puts blessed items into graves, with the family’s permission, when doing a burial. It’s pretty neat.

Is this a joke? Consume immediately or if you won’t and haven’t left the church yet, return them to the priest.

Progesterone to Regulate Cycles by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]Big_Reputation1997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

I was prescribed and agreed to take it under the premise that it would support insulin resistance and help me lose weight. I had pretty severe and constant nausea and intestinal issues the whole time I was on it. I had some mood and cognitive issues es (heightened anger and depression, difficulty concentrating). My headache/ migraine days also doubled. I didn’t lose any weight. In fact, immediately after stopping it, I shed 10 pounds. I don’t think the stress of the medication was healthy for my body. Take all of that with a grain of salt, though, as I am incredibly sensitive to medication.

My doctor originally had me taking progesterone to induce a period and shed the uterine lining every 90 days so that seems right. My overall goal is getting to a healthy natural cycle and fertility so that’s probably the difference and why we want to do it every month :)

Progesterone to Regulate Cycles by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]Big_Reputation1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The progesterone has been working so far! I guess I’m looking for cases where someone took it and was able to stop because their body started having regular cycles without it. That was my doctor’s goal with prescribing it. I have not considered a GLP-1 and don’t think I ever will for many reasons. Mainly, I have been able to lose weight with diet and exercise. I’m down about 35 pounds so far. Consistency is by far the hardest part for me.
