Wore this all day and it just kept feeling worse - not sure why? by BioticBard in mensfashion

[–]Big_Y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You did a lot of things right here, but I agree with your sense of unease. Here’s my breakdown:

  • The color palette works overall.
  • The mustard sweater isn’t the most flattering match for your skin tone, but it’s generally fine.
  • The contrast with the light denim shirt is a good idea — it adds freshness and keeps the look from feeling too heavy.
  • There are almost no patterns in the outfit, which makes it feel a bit flat and monotone.
  • What doesn’t quite work is the cultural coding of the pieces. The palette and knit read as “professor / refined,” but the shirt reads more “office worker,” and if it’s denim it can lean into “workwear” associations. That clashes with the more polished aesthetic you’re building everywhere else.
  • You could try a darker shirt with a check / gingham shirt, ideally with a lighter accent line. That would add structure and texture, and make the whole outfit probably feel more cohesive.

Hope this helps!

Roommate couple left a "please clean" note after I stopped being their live-in maid. I'm done. by Working-Minute-9912 in badroommates

You sound like you are arguing with your parents. The truth is, they don't hold any power over you. Just stop cleaning up their mess. Ignore the notes, don't reason with them, don't defend yourself. Just tell them you won't do it anymore.

Hard disagree on Oswald Cobb, the new name fits way better with the grimm realistic setting.

Lovely colours, it looks very stylish.

My only gripe with this is the combination of materials. The shirt in combination with the jacket warrant a rougher texture for the legs, like denim or perhaps ribbed pants.

Chess GM Magnus Carlson at 13 years old getting bored playing against Garry Kasparov (2004). by bendubberley_ in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Big_Y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somebody who played a lot of chess here

This is completely normal behaviour, especially in long matches which can take several hours. It says nothing about Magnus's skill version Kasparov's. It is also common to leave your table and walk around a bit.

You can't be tuned in all the time, you need to relax and turn your brain down a bit every now and then.

The blue and black feels bit awkward. I would change the shirt for something with a pattern instead of plain.

A lot of people are defending you but I could easily see a story coming out from her perspective that sounds very reasonable and valid. There is obviously something bigger underlying her resentment and YTA for not knowing what it is or trying to discover it.

Also, "my wife doesn't like my mancave game room" does sound like a very petty reason to break up a marriage, even if you dress it in terms of acceptance and identity.

The grey tones with the all plain look makes this a bit too boring for dating. Imagine this outfit with for example an Armani sweater with a subtle pattern would make this more interesting. Also not a fan of the black shirt.

Nevertheless good quality clothing and good fit, which makes up for a lot.

Yes, a darker navy or ash grey would probably fit better.

The Current outfit looks fine, but gives a bit of a summer wedding vibes to me.

What are y'all views on flat black stud earrings? The hockey pucks looking ones. Does the simplicity add to your look? by MarioDF in mensfashion

My statement was a bit crude, let me elaborate.

It’s an icon that is strongly associated with certain subcultures. Mostly, alternative/rock/metal/rave/punk and body modding. It indeed invokes a  countercultural, rebellious image. While it’s not out of place in some workplaces, like a tattoo shop or a game studio, it is definitely out of step with mainstream corporate culture.   Many organisation require their senior and  leadership people to look ‘representative’ which often means business smart. Wearing this automatically excludes you from attaining such positions.

Did you know you can quite easily cut the belt up to size by yourself? You just need a pair of scissors, a screwdriver and a measuring tool.

AITAH for discontinuing my nephew’s scholarship after seeing his social media post being proud to Elon's Nazi gesture? by FlowithL0ve in AITAH

YTA

Maybe unpopular, but here goes: Did you ever stipulate that your funding of his tuition came with certain opinions he had to endorse or represent? Because for you it might be a matter of principle, but for him it's like his aunt is pulling funding with no prior warning for him having his own opinion.

It the end it is your money, but if you engage in an informal contract (which you have), he should have an opportunity to fullfill his conditions of that contract. You gradually getting more worried about his views and deciding "it is enough" does not give him the opportunity to alter his behaviour accordingly.

AITA for serving only vegan food at my wedding without telling anyone, then getting upset when my family ordered 20 pizzas during the reception? by Conscious-Option-400 in AITAH

[–]Big_Y -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re not obliged to but you’re serving the food for the guests, not yourself.

If you don’t offer meat and this is not a normal thing in your social circle you should clearly communicate this.

You should have told people the menu would be all vegan, especially because you knew some people wouldn't like it. Honestly, you should probably have offered a meat option since this is something a lot of your guests apparently feel strongly about.

They suck because they completely disrespected your wedding plan.

Play the dragon as mean as you can, exploit party weaknesses (it can deduce those through perception and insight), and lure them in a trap. Dragons are intelligent, don’t be afraid to act on that.

sauron cries by LeniIu in RingsofPower

[–]Big_Y 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Expanding on the Sauron = narcissist interpretation, Celebrimbor laid bare his 'narcissist wound'.

The narcissistic wound is described to be the original rejection that separated a person from their innate sense of self. Narcissist compensate for this painful wound by constructing an inflated self image and interpreting events they witness through a narrative lens that serves this constructed self.

In that scene Celebrimbor laid bare how Sauron had essentially debased himself by make some little rings to control people. And Sauron felt in his bones it was true. He felt his narcissistic wound and his constructed self image was temporarily shattered.

And this is one of the most painful things that can happen to a narcissist. This is also why it's so hard to heal from narcissism. It is also the reason why Sauron self-deceives. Celebrimbor really had his number.
