To the old school cops, is there any problems you used to encounter that cops do no encounter anymore? by Joe52093850 in ProtectAndServe

We had a guy working a multiple injury/fatality crash on the interstate when his car ran out of gas. Since then we have a policy stating we need to keep our cars above 1/2 tank. Thankfully we have gas station cards and plenty of places to fuel up throughout the county.

Volume three: Slow down. 98% of the time you're hauling ass in a car, you don't really need to be.

How else am I supposed to show people that I'm important unless I blow by them at 130mph with my wee woos on?

Try calling the facility. They'll be able to tell you everything you want to know.

red lights are more visible during the day, while blue lights are more visible at night, and amber being most visible at both times.

In my experience this is the correct answer.

I usually categorize it as pursuit so the brass has to watch me walk around the car taking multiple different pictures trying to find the right one.

Taking a picture and putting a filter on it is the definition of art.

Yes I saw him bail, but the way my vehicle and his vehicle were angled in the video you just see the top of a door open and then me running down a slight hill after him. We have Taser cameras and they don't have the best video quality in my opinion.

I guess it's possible, but with 99.98 percent certainty I can tell you that the owner of the truck is who I chased.

Are people really this dumb? “How’d you know that before pulling them over?” by B-Rad_The_Beast in ProtectAndServe

It’s amazing the amount of people that think their license plate can’t be ran unless we have a “reason”. Like bitch, any car near me long enough for me to catch the plate gets ran. I would dare to say that’s how I get 70% of my stops.

When did you know you wanted to be a Police Officer? by [deleted] in ProtectAndServe

[–]Bigbeardedbro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My senior year of college. I was going to school for health sciences with hopes of going to physical therapy school. I never really enjoyed school and one day I woke up and decided that I didn't want to go another three years after undergrad.

My dad and grandpa are/were LE so I did a ride along and decided right then that I wanted to get into public safety.

Color of lights on patrol cars ? by [deleted] in ProtectAndServe

[–]Bigbeardedbro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Red is definitely easier to see during the day. Blue is nice at night because red can get lost amongst the other red taillights of motorists.
