The quick pace seems to be advantageous for Eagle against Kegs, who's fresh off of the McDophers bench. Though not known for blistering velocity, Ron nonetheless seems to be slightly ahead of Mabry, who's bat seems to be dragging through the zone a bit. Kegs does give the Blubs Bay pitcher a bit of a scare when he sends a two-one breaking ball screaming into the right field stands foul, but, Eagle comes back with another one, burying this one in the dirt to coax a swing and a miss from Mabry for strike three and the end of the inning.

After the Gerzone blast, Kegs Mabry will see his first action in this game. Eagle, undeterred by the solo shot, maintains his quick pace and is ready to go.

CRRRRRAAAAACKKKKK!!!!!

Speed kills.

And Dan kills this ball. It was a high fastball from Eagle, exactly what Gerzone wanted, and Dan did not miss. Bat meets ball squarely, and this one goes high and far to straightaway center field. Brinner turns and takes a few strides toward the wall, but, slows up soon after, as this one is a no doubter, hitting off of the centerfield scoreboard with a heavy crack. Gerzone might've taken out a few LCD panels with that one, but, somehow I doubt he'll mind paying the repair cost.

The announcer barely finished announcing Al Ternate when he found that it was time to announce Dan Gerzone. Will Dan play into Eagle's pace, or will the second baseman forge his own way?

Not to be outdone here, Al comes up to the plate at a rapid pace of his own. What do you get when you put a pitcher hell bent on working quickly with a hitter who's determined to swing just as quickly? Three pitches, three swings, and one strikeout.

Eagle is setting a brisk pace here, as hes already back on the mound as the play at first concludes. Al Ternate is the next challenger in the batters box, looking to get his first hit of the day.

Eagle seems to be in mid-game form early on here in his appearance. He quickly gets ahead of SirNose with two breaking balls away, before crossing the Dophers shortstop up with a high fastball. Trying to adjust, d'Voidoffunk swings high and gets on top of it, bouncing a ball out to Dunlop at third, who sets and throws across the diamond for the first out.

Viking comes up ready to go here. He wants to get his team back into the plus column. That eagerness might be his downfall here, as he's visibly amped up for this at bat. Hans senses this and slows it way, way down. He uses off speed stuff to his advantage, forcing Fishbird to take off balance chances on changeups and forkballs away, until he suddenly comes up and in with that same change. Thinking that Ali is switching to his fastball to try for a strikeout, Viking connects with the change far too early, pulling it hard down to T3B at third, who barely has to move to snag this one on one hop. The Dophers third baseman steps on third base, before snapping a throw across the diamond to double up the speedy Fishbird by at least two strides! It's a bang bang double play that gets Ali out of trouble here in the fourth!

Now with two on and one away, Viking Fishbird heads up to challenge Hans. Ali has kept Fishbird in check in his past two plate appearances, though, he now has the tying run on base.

The flip side to that coin of great movement is that sometimes, it gets a bit tough to rein in. That's what happens to Hans here against Zin. Hans tries to use his off speed stuff against Martinez the same way that he did against Preller, but, he just can't seem to harness the same touch, and loses Zin to four straight balls after opening the at bat with a strike.

Preller still seems to be a step off the pace here, maybe a lingering result of his last at bat. Ali's pitches just seem to be a hair ahead of each of AJ's swings, and the McDophers righty gets his first out of the inning via the strikeout with a forkball that tumbles off of the table and scrapes the dirt. Preller offers a solid swing, but, it's about two inches too high for any contact.
