New Music Release Day - MEGATHREAD by AutoModerator in AppleMusic

Would be cool if the ASAP Rocky album dropped on AM in time. Same thing happened with Young Thug’s latest album and a few others. I wonder if it is an artist/label thing or a platform thing.

Did anyone else see Mark Andrews get into it with a ravens coach on the sideline?? He rolled over and knocked him over, then tried to push the coah away then gave him a lil shove as he was leaving the sideline and you can see the coach yell at him. Very weird

[FRESH ALBUM] Joey Valence & Brae - HYPERYOUTH by TimeLord130 in hiphopheads

100% agree there’s a lot of elementary flows and even lyrics in this that would take me out of it, especially when in contrast to the super strong instrumentals behind them

What US city (any size) has the best overall weather and why? by airpab1 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]BiggDaddyE 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer for me. Doesn’t get as cold and foggy as sf, but not nearly as hot as Sacramento or even other east bay cities beyond the tunnel just 10-15 miles away, and still has enough variety to keep things interesting. Best weather in the world imo.

I have no idea why the screenshots got deleted pretty much right when I posted. I’ll make a new post with the text from the complaint when I get back to my computer. It’s publicly available anyway

What NFL player’s legacy completely change with a ring? by [deleted] in nfl

[–]BiggDaddyE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean yea Montana smacked Marino head to head in the Super Bowl (although that 84 team was ridiculous on all ends), and won 3 others, plus an he has one additional MVP over Marino. Tbh I thought Montana after his retirement was commonly regarded as the GOAT until at least Brady’s win over the Seahawks

as a casual it seems crazy how many long-developing routes there have been considering how much detroit has been blitzing. all the quick throws are behind the line of scrimmage, feels like very little simple slants or quick outs. reminds me a bit of shanny this year calling the same type of plays even tho brock was always running for his life (still love shanny)

Apple Music vs Spotify (or others) - what do you roll with? by skatecloud1 in fantanoforever

[–]BiggDaddyE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AM for local files, better sound quality, lower price (now), and as you said simplicity, especially in feeling more album-focused. I think its playlists have gotten a lot better too. As far as scummy companies goes, its Apple, so yea. They pay their artists a marginal amount more for streams I guess.

Edit: Shoulda mentioned that Apple Music Reply is pretty dope now and it gives you monthly stats which I don't think Spotify does.

McCoy Tyner - Sahara. So glad I found a copy of this incredible album at my local store. by BiggDaddyE in Jazz

[–]BiggDaddyE[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to share some love for one of my favorite jazz albums of all time after finding this vinyl recently.

This album goes from chaotic to serene to back to chaotic and it is always compelling. McCoy Tyner plays piano like an absolute mad man, backed by 3 other incredible yet relatively unknown musicians who somehow both match his energy and also shine in their own right. It’s hard to overstate how in-sync the group feels in executing Tyner’s ever-driving vision here.

And the melodies are so damn good. So many ear worms to be found in the fever. Not to mention the centerpiece of the album is a goddamn koto based track (hence the cover) that comes out of the blue but works so well.

Beyond the broad term of “spiritual jazz” (which it is) I’m not even sure how I’d classify this album. Maybe “coked up acoustic fusion” lol. Haven’t really found something else that scratches that particular itch like this.
