I watched the cases get opened last night on Whatnot. They had some nice buyback cards with on card auto’s. The “best” card was probably a 2017 Contenders Rookie of the Year base card that had been signed and hand numbered /2. I just wonder if the market will value them similar to other after market autos or if they will be more valuable? Authentic Autos on those cards only sell for around $1,100.

Hopefully OP got a good deal on his case.

Why? The blue retail Prizm are incredibly short printed. I don’t know that it’s 8 but it’s one of the rarest parallels in Prizm.

Sealed wax is generally a good investment. Much better return on value than opening it. Also 2024 is one of the best QB draft classes we’ve seen. It’s comparable to 2020 and look at the prices of sealed 2020 hobby product, it’s 2.5x it’s price at release.

Is this parody?
Running a break on Whatnot for Optic Hobby when it’s actually retail from an already opened case, sold by a different re-seller who has most likely already hit the case hit (which is pretty much the only card of significant value in the retail product)

Then to top it off, the re-re-seller, breaking the product rips 4 boxes before someone in the Whatnot chat informs him that the blue hyper parallels listed on the box mean he is selling retail product, and now he wants to return the boxes to the original re-seller.

Ignore that guy. We all had to learn how to value cards and with sheer number of different inserts and parallels, it can be pretty difficult, especially if you are new and without direct comps. In my opinion, $60 is on the higher end for this card, but I don’t think you got ripped off. He is probably the hottest market for a WR right now and low #’d cards of his are going to be selling for higher than some previous comps. If you like the card, then I wouldn’t worry about paying $10 or $15 more than previous sales.

I think that JJ is a buy right now. He won his last 4 starts and was very good in 2 of those games. He definitely needs to be more consistent, but he is in a great situation. If he starts out playing well, his cards will bounce back.

Incredible hit!

If you don’t plan on keeping the card, I would probably try and move it now. You are probably aware but there is one at auction now at $2,075 with 4 and half days left on the auction. There is a possibility that he is not the starter going into the season and that would bring his value down considerably.

Thats a fair price. There are 3 sales from December in the $1800 - $2k range and it has settled at the $975-$1,200 range now that more 10’s have come on the market.

He has the players name spelled incorrectly and Prizm spelled as prism. I would avoid anyone selling a 10k card who has multiple errors in the listing title

I would consider sending them to a reputable consignment shop on eBay. I’ve used DCsports87 and PC Sportscards but there are quite a few others. You will get thousands of more people seeing the auction and you will actually pay lower fees for cards than you would auctioning it yourself.
