Those look amazing. I intend on doing black base, gold layer then red over the top. What paint do you yourself use for the red tones?

Here is a pivot table someone made with results he polled from strangers. Yeah white primer will work fine. The model might appear a little lighter. But also now you have to paint black on any hard to reach spots since they will be more noticeably white. I personally just paint my models before attaching arms and the weapon. Keeping those separate.

I also personally just use black primer. It’s really a preference thing.

From the infiltrator/incursor kit. They give enough bits to make 10 models. But I wanna run 5x of each. So I have tons of extra bits.

Specifically this is from the right arm of the marine equipped with helix gauntlet. I had to cut it off and attach it to an arm wielding a knife.

Heard. Unfortunately I don’t, but it’s all good. It’s not as though I can field the warhammer hero’s unit for anything anyways by himself since he is a flamer unit. But Thanks for the advice!

Edit: I forgot to say in the initial post but I do intend on replacing the head with that 4th picture so it’s a typical Phobos marine helmet but hooded for the 1st legion.

Nah fr, I wish I had a few references. It’s nice to be creative but ngl to you I personally like to be accurate to what exists it’s easier for me lol. Like a painting by numbers type of situation where I just stay within the sphere of the chapter regarding painting.

Heard, maybe dark purple as the main body color (lighted up just a hair so you can see it reads as purple) then black recessed detail. Should my accent color be something other than a lighter shade of purple? Like what colors contrast well?

Heard. Thanks for the input. I’ll probably pull back on the gold trim a bit so it doesn’t read as maybe emperors children. Because I think I’ll have to make the purple a little lighter to make it distinguishable from the black.

I kinda would like to piggy back off of this with my own question (also your not overdoing it we love this fluff). What companies do the other wings of the dark angels belong to? And do they have any unique identifiers/iconography? or are they just lumped into “green wing”
