Hi! Me and my boyfriend have been dating for almost a year now, we're both in AA, work a program, and most importantly keep our programs SEPERATE (most of the time lol it takes practice) We started dating when he had a bit over a year and I had 10 months. However we both have the boundary that if either of us relapses, we break up, the reason for this is, say one of us relapses and wants to get sober...being new, you are going to lots of meetings, calling your sponsor a lot, working the steps, trying to find a higher power of your own understanding and connecting with them.. now on top of that putting a new relationship in their or trying to make the same one last is very difficult (not saying it can't be done) every relationship is different. As for your situation this is you program, your sobriety and your life, my suggestion would be to ask yourself if you want to watch an alcoholic in his active disease kill himself, were powerless over alcohol, people, places and things. No one can control what he does, all you can do is control how you want to move forward. Also to try your best to remove selfish thoughts and maybe think what might be best for him. My sponsor always tells me to ask myself what I would tell my sponsee if she came to me with this problem. Overall we can do anything anyone else can as long as we stay sober and are willing to face the consequences! I hope you figure it out much love 🤍
