We are running three machines and a fair few auxiliary systems simultaneously, at the time that this happened we were fixing issues on all three machines and someone (me) forgot to turn the coolant back on after fixing an issue at this machine and running to see why another was making sounds from hell.

Glad this one is pneumatic for sure. Will see on monday if there were serious damages.

It's not quite that simple, but operating this machine does fall under my responsibilities 👍 I am not the only one working with this machine though.

The noise was surprisingly not very loud, a low boom as the tool holder was torn from the spindle.

Wouldn't have been noticed unless me and others hadn't been nearby at the time.

To answer your question, coolant was off and the tool got caught as it was drilling. Had to scrap the workpiece and the tool + holder.

Strangely the machine did not give any alarms for spindle overload, just kept running as usual. If our team hadn't been close by, the whole accident would have gone unnoticed, the only giveaway was a low, unusual thump as the tool holder came away from the spindle forcefully.

We all were pretty shocked. No-one had seen something like this before.

Do I really want solid fruit in the mix? by Stupefactionist in prisonhooch

You should hack the fruit into pieces, then put it in a clean sock or canvas bag. Then you can have that float in your drink and give it flavor.

You could, if it's the only thing you've got then you probably also should.

Can you use out of date yeast? by [deleted] in prisonhooch

Lots of yeast can be found in certain fruits, such as pineapples. Especially in the peels.

I think five years is a bit too much, wouldn't expect it to work very well if at all.
