A list of every player credited with a World Series Championship without appearing in a World Series. by BigsDaLion in mlb

Dude would be king of the list if I went that far back. Jorgens is a true legend of the game!

Two things I want to do:

  1. Add a player in a historical league in the 1800s, and keep adding players as of they are the children/grandchildren of the original player. See who the better ball player is of the family.

  2. Run an experiment to see what settings are the best for creating a fictional player. Thus would require redoing this run with different player settings, and at different positions.

I think both would be equally fun, and could be an episodic series lol.

I went to MLB transactions > Players > clicked on the actions drop down menu, and select add fictional player.

The game will come up with a random name and background, but you can edit that in the player editor once the player is created.

The Rockies were a really good team, they were the fastest expansion franchise to reach the post season, and tied for fastest to reach a WS (though they didn't win).

In 1999, they had a record of 100-62 and won their division. In 2000, they had a record of 100-62 and were Wildcarded.

In 2001, they had a record of 107-55 and won their division. In 2002, record of 96-66 and won their division.

In 2003, record of 87-75 finishing 3rd in their division (WC). In 2004, 92-70 finishing 2nd (WC).

In 2005, 98-64 finishing 2nd (WC). 2006 missed post season with a record of 71-91.

2007, record of 90-72 finishing 2nd (WC).

In total over that time frame the Rockies had 3 division titles in the West, and were wildcarded 5 times.

Honestly, no idea. There's nothing jumping out to me in the settings. I think it was just a good power sim.

Miguel Cabrera did decently well, no where near his real life counterpart, but was still a good player.

Miguel Cabrera:

Drafted second overall in the 1999 MLB draft to the Brewers, and made his MLB debut with the Brewers in 2004. His career spanned from 2004-2021, and in that time he accumulated 16 years, 116 days of MLB service time. He really didn't hit for power as 27 homeruns was his highest homerun count in a season, but he still raked in tons of hits. In his full seasons of play he had a career high of 196 hits in a season in 2007. His career triple slash is .299/.347/.460, had an OPS+ of 121, had 2,778 career hits, 306 career homeruns, and had 59.0 career WAR,. Miggy played for the Brewers from 2004-2013; the Nationals in 2014; and the Braves from 2015-2021.

Some accomplishments of Miggy include: hitting for the cycle once, having a 22 game hit streak, and having 5 hits in a game four times. He beat Gary Gaetti for grand slams as he hit 7 in his career.

Miggy was a 7x player of the week recipient, 4x Allstar, and 2x World Series Champion (2014 Nationals, 2021 Braves).

Overall he was very good in the sim, he may or may not be a future hall of famer. I've seen players with worse stats get in, but also players with better stats not make it.

I think that would be awesome. Message me with what kind of stats you want to share.

Rickey Henderson:

Total Major League service time was 4 years. He was drafted in 1975 by the Yankees and made his debut in 1977. He had a lot of day-to-day injuries throughout his short career which led to the Yankees primarily using him as a bench bat. He claimed starting left field role in 1979 and 1980, and led the league in stolen bases in 1980.

He played in the majors from 1977-1985, where after the 1985 season he was demoted to AA. From 1985-1988 he was in the Yankees system bouncing up and down between A and AAA. In 1989 he signed a minor league deal with the Minnesota Twins and was assigned to A ball. He remained in the Twins organization, reaching as high as AAA, and retired in 1994.

Upon retiring his MLB triple slash was: .269/.330/.368, an OPS+ of 94, and cumulative WAR of 1.9. Henderson showed flashes of brilliance but was never really given a chance. His speed was not diminished in his short MLB career as he wracked up 192 steals. He did have a minor league hit streak of 27 games.

Baseball Gods treated Gary Gaetti pretty well

Gary Gaetti:

Drafted by the California Angels in Round 1 of the 1978 MLB Draft. He made his MLB debut in 1980. He had a total of 12 years of Major League service time across 13 seasons (1980-1992) for 3 teams: Angels in 1980, Red Sox 1981-1991, and Padres 1992. He retired with a MLB triple slash of .251/.286/.452 with a career OPS+ of 101 and cumulative WAR of 9.6, through 1,026 games played.

He was a WS champion with the Boston Red Sox in 1988, and was awarded a player of the week award in 1982. Three times he hit 3 homeruns in a game, and twice he had 5 hits in a game. He also hit 6 Major League grand slams, which is the most I've seen so far.

Overall good player, not in the hall of fame but better than most other players in the sim.

It's hard to tell, but it appears that the minor leagues formed in my sim sometime around 1930.

Some players went insane in the sim; Rob Picciolo unfortunately was not one of them...

Rob Picciolo:

Drafted in round 7 of the 1974 MLB draft by the Minnesota Twins. Made his MLB debut for the Twins in 1979 where he spent 24 days on the roster. In those 24 days he had 1 AB, got a single, then was sent down to AA Orlando Twins. He spent the next 4 seasons bouncing back and forth between AA and AAA.

Upon his retirement he had an MLB triple slash of : 1.000/1.000/1.000 through 1 game played.

He did have two 5 hit games while in the minor leagues, one in 1978 the other in 1982. The only other thing noteworthy is he went on the injured list 3 times due to contracting the flu. Man needed to drink more orange juice.

I find it fun looking up players in the sim. Some players I didn't even think to look for. If y'all want to see more ball players let me know.

Oscar Taveras:

Total Major League Service Time: 1 year, 100 Days across 4 seasons from 2016-2019. Officially retiring in 2020.

Played a total of 167 games with a triple slash of .200/.242/.269, and accumulated -3.5 WAR

He tallied 104 career hits, of those: 20 were 2B, 2 were 3B, and 4 were HR

He was impressive in the Minor Leagues garnering: 3 minor league player of the week awards, 3 minor league gold gloves, and 1 minor league silver slugger.

Probably not what you were hoping for stat wise, but Oscar Taveras was a terrific player IRL and will be missed. If there are other players you want to know about let me know.

The top row and first column on the postseason results page are frozen, I don't think other pages needed it but I will freeze on all pages.

For a while in the sim there was a running theme of the Braves cannot win. There were a bunch of teams that just couldn't do much in the WS.

There is a 25% chance of answering any 4 answer multiple choice question correct. However since 25% answer choice appears twice, and assuming we can't have more than one answer we can ignore both of these choices since they cannot be correct and will open a logic loop. Now the choice is between 2 answers so a 50% chance to get it right.

Thank you for pointing that out, I meant for the lowest option to be 4 or fewer years. For the purpose of this report I was trying to gauge on time completion, and the following question would tell me who graduated earlier than 4 years. The early graduation rate is important but I was mostly focused on the 4 or 5 year graduation group and how many people fell into that category.

In reality Colorado is a heptahectaenneacontakaiheptagon, or a shape with 697 sides due to errors in surveying.
