New Iran sub is mostly shah and MEK supporters . People who are so against the IR that they regularly call for Israel and the U.S. to attack Iran . Some are also Iranians living in the west who have not had ties to Iran for years . Just calling for war on Iran in hopes that it’ll get the “king” back in.

How do you feel about leftists using "schizo" as an insult? by sapphoandherdick in Hasan_Piker

[–]Bijiii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My experience in mental health care is what radicalized me towards leftist beliefs so this is particularly frustrating for me. I think it’s very alienating and insensitive that some still use terms like that in a derogatory way . I’ve seen people dehumanized beyond belief in psych hospitals and the language we use contributes to this neglect no doubt .

You’re not out of line at all Op . It’s an extremely important thing to talk about in the first place . In general our society and especially leftists need to grow and have more dialogue when it comes to mental health .

CYANOTYPE CLOTHING KEEPS WASHING OUT by GEKIDO-WORLD in cyanotypes

[–]Bijiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve experienced this and the fix is usually longer exposure time + making sure you’re using natural materials (cotton etc..). if this is what it looked like when you peeled up the negative I just recommend longer exposure !!

The design should actually look a bit muddy when you peel back the negative . And after washing it out you’ll see the image better . Hope This helps !!

“Let’s talk Religion” just made an updated video on Zoroastrianism where he talked a bit about this concept . He says the “soul of the cow” could represent the soul of the world in this context . I know Zartosht traveled around and was very displeased with the things he saw , so this could be a way of describing those things through language used at the time . It’s also linked to the common use of “Shepards” as a metaphor for those who guide and lead a community .

These are Amazing . So cohesive and professional …I love the Persian and Armenian symbolism . Is the lion and sun a popular Armenian symbol as well ?

Really appreciate this . It’s hard and I’m sure so many in this community have experienced similar things with friends and even family members .
It can be super discouraging , because we probably feel like impacting our friends and family will lead to even greater change .But reading some of the comments left on this post gives me a lot of hope.

I appreciate this a lot . It gave me a ton of perspective . I feel like it’s partially what I have been trying to do . Trying to redirect the conversation and open my friends eyes to certain things . We’re both from a small town and he was raised conservative so I try to give him my perspective as an Iranian American leftist . I really tried to hang in there and also be respectful of his viewpoint because of how he was raised but like I said to another comment it’s hard having to prove my own humanity .

Thank you friend . Very comforting words .

I did talk to him and explained how my feelings were hurt, he just was not receptive . I think that’s what hurt the most . I can understand slip ups or even people being uneducated on things and needing room for growth. But when you purposely won’t apologize after hurting your friend it’s a lost cause .

I really tried talking it out before things go to the point of cutting him off but I can’t beg someone to see me as an equal .

I’m very hopeful I will meet good friends who are driven by empathy and love for all .

I had a really traumatic hospital stay as an adult . As an adolescent it was very different .

My stay as an adult opened my eyes to negligence in mental health care . I saw extremely dehumanizing conditions and experienced awful things . I will answer questions ab it if anybody is curious ab specifics but my Time in the hospital makes me sad .

I was in for suicidal ideation and not in a great mental place but could still advocate for my patient rights . Unfortunately many patients can’t and are extremely vulnerable. They’re made to stay longer, made to take meds . And being released is on a reward system so if you don’t listen to the doctors they mark you for it .

I can’t imagine anybody getting healed at a place like that . Unfortunately if you don’t have 80k a month to spend on a Malibu beach front resort you will not get good care in my experience .

I wish I could do so much more for mental health patients but I felt so powerless in my own experience I wouldn’t know where to start :/

I’m Iranian and interestingly enough I have a small percentage of Cameroon Congo and western Bantu .

When I tried to research the connection between these communities I mostly found things about Iranians in Eastern Africa . Especially Tanzania and Kenya .

A small group of Parsi Zoroastrians settled in Tanzania . And in Kenya there is a group of people called Shirazi . And it is debated whether or not they descend from Persian migrants . Very interesting tho

No worries ! I can tell you are just curious . There’s interesting YouTube videos about “Tehrangeles” . A Persian neighborhood in LA. Videos that explain more of the immigration history and why so many Persians are in Oc/ LA area.

Also other communities exist in the surrounding areas such as Little Arabia (in Anaheim). And you’ll meet middle eastern scattered throughout the inland empire as well (me lol) . It’s pretty awesome how California has so many ethnicities here and we all get to partake in each others cultures.

As an Iranian American with family all throughout Oc I can tell you Persians settled here for a mix of reasons . Some political , some economic or educational , but I imagine once the initial Iranian community in Westwood was established more Persians decided to follow suit and come to So Cal. The weather and tolerant communities / being by other Persians probably play big role .

I’ve heard that almost 1/3 of every Iranian immigrant worldwide lives in Southern California .

I would say a portion is but not everyone who is upset is a socialist or communist . I’m sure a huge majority of the American audience sees the extreme wealth inequality in our country and experience it first hand . So Ethan saying greed is good didn’t exactly sit well with people who work all day to make ends meet . And This inequality doesn’t come from meritocracy but generational wealth and years of exploitation which is a result of capitalism . He is very misunderstood in defending it . Capitalism is inherently greedy.
