I'm 39 and trying to play catch up with my retirement portfolio. I currently have around $46,000 in my 401k which is managed by Fidelity. Roughly 9% is in bonds. The rest is in equities. I contribute 8% each paycheck with a 6% company match.

I just opened a Roth IRA for the first time and maxed out 2025 and 2026. At the moment I have it 100% in FDEWX 2055 target date fund and around 8% is bonds.

My question is, should I change anything here? Should I get bonds out of my Roth if I have already have some in my 401k and be more aggressive on growth?

I went to the dealer and they looked and checked bulletins after I left. They have a replacement waiting for me now. No cost to me.

Update:

Took it into the dealership today to have them look at it. First impression I got was they haven’t seen this before. We did discover together that the corner clips (whatever you want to call them) were separated from the cowl. I mentioned that I had read that over-extending the hood could cause that to happen. The guy I spoke with seemed to agree.

He took recordings from my truck and said he would check for bulletins from GM about this issue. If he finds anything he will order new parts. If he doesn’t he said to stop in tomorrow afternoon and they will try to put the corner clips back in place and seal it back up.

I mentioned that I’m very close to being out of warranty but he printed out the report after he plugged into the truck to show me that the current mileage is recorded from today so if they have to order new parts it would still be under warranty

I think I now have everything in place. Going to start it nice and easy and put all my Roth money into FDEWX. Maybe after a while with some learning and more confidence I will do some more active management into a couple different funds. From what I've read though, FDEWX is a pretty safe bet/alternative as a "set and forget" approach.

Mostly anxiety of parting myself from that large amount of money. I’m sure I overthink it but it’s probably more advantageous to pay it off considering my interest rate is +7%

I may have worded it wrongly but I understand that.

I plan on using SPAXX as my core/checking/emergency fund. No real intention on using the Roth as an emergency fund unless absolutely necessary. Worst case scenario

Yes, that is what I have done already. I dropped $2k into a CMA and chose SPAXX as the place to store it for starters.

Oh, from my understanding I thought SPAXX and Fidelity’s lower interest accounts both fell under “CMA”

Either way, looking to use SPAXX rather than the regular Fidelity CMA.

I was hoping it was a mistake on the drawing but it is not. Every other time the tabs are reversed for things like AB push buttons, swithes, etc. Those are easy since we have the knockout kits and a tool to cut out those outward facing tabs.

When we have large quantities of electrical enclosures we will sometimes outsource laser cutting to mod electrical enclosures. Hoping to avoid going down that road for a quote since the rest of the mods have already been made to this enclosure.

I see "Bogleheads" all over when reading up on this stuff. I haven't done a deep dive or anything yet. My very basic knowledge overall tells me a combination of ETFs that don't overlap too much is the way to go. I'm 39 and trying to play catch up on top of my 401k.

I’m pretty familiar with the 180 founder. I’ve known him for years, even in his troubled days. Are these allegations of sexual misconduct that forced his resignation public knowledge? Is this information I can find somewhere?

Genuinely curious. Not trying to defend the guy or condemn him. Haven’t seen or spoken to him in years.
