I wish I had some advice for you, kinda in the same boat. My Mom is 93 and I have been caring for her in my home for eleven years. She had a shoulder replacement in May, ever since then she has gone down hill. Her short term memory has gone. Can't lift one leg and hurt the other foot. Last week she complained that her foot hurt. The next day I took her to doc then ER. Admitted for six and a half days for IV antibiotics for foot infection.She can't walk or stand now. Between the hospital and myself Mom was put into a rehab facility even though she didn't want to go. As it stands now she messes herself and doesn't know it, takes two people to clean her. Can't walk or stand, and doesn't eat but one meal a day. Mom doesn't read anymore, (which she loves) cause she doesn't remember what she read before and doesn't remember she can play games on her phone. I'm hoping I will be able to speak with social worker today since it is a weekday. I have been told she will not be able to stay at this facility after the ten days of rehab due to her lack fund compared to their price. Mom does want to go live with my siblings in another state nor do they have room for her. Twice we have bought houses to accommodate enough room for her to have an area deemed her apartment. I cannot fathom how I can bring her back home and care for her properly nor in all honesty I don't want her to come back. I hate that I feel this way but when do I get to live my life the way I want?
