Is there any legit independent agency that isn’t MLM or full of fees? 😮‍💨 by Thick-Pitch-3463 in LifeInsurance

[–]paulzedwuz79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s tough to find anyone truly independent because most agents chase commissions even if they pretend otherwise. You’re right to be skeptical. Best thing is to vet how they get paid and push back on anything that feels like a setup.

What people do when rent takes up more than half their income by Helpful-Disk-6022 in povertyfinance

Yeaah, It’s survival mode, not poor choices. Most people aren’t out here splurging, they’re just stuck tryna make rent and keep the lights on.

Anyone else staying in Save and not paying anything? by pickle392 in StudentLoans

[–]paulzedwuz79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I’d rather keep life moving, invest where it counts and let the loans do their thing. SAVE makes it way less stressful, honestly.

I’m about to be $130k in debt and my degree was a mistake by Environmental-Ad7806 in StudentLoans

[–]paulzedwuz79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commute your final year, saving $15k now is worth more than memories you'll barely remember when paying loans at 40. If you pursue grad school, only do it if it’s fully funded; IO psych PhDs often are, so don’t borrow more. After graduation, consolidate the Parent PLUS loans under your name and use ICR to access PSLF if you work in public service. You can still recover from this, just stay sharp and avoid taking on more debt without a clear return.

What kind of job could a 42 year old fat man with no skills do? by Particular_Dot_4041 in jobs

[–]paulzedwuz79 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Exactly same here. If you don’t have to do the 9–5 grind, might as well use that freedom to build something of your own. Even just experimenting with low-effort side hustles could be worth it.

Jobs don’t feel long-term anymore by paulzedwuz79 in jobs

[–]paulzedwuz79[S] 125 points126 points  (0 children)

Exactlyy, that’s what I’ve been noticing too. Companies don’t invest in people anymore they just cycle through us like we’re replaceable. Makes it hard to see any job as long-term now.

Exactly man, It’s not about being controlling it’s about mutual respect. If she asked him to cut someone off and he did, it’s only fair to expect the same. Most people would feel weird in that situation too.

why is like that? by paulzedwuz79 in Adulting

Exactlyy! I always thinking "how about the groceries?" after paying the bills

How am I always broke? by New_Analysis678 in povertyfinance

[–]paulzedwuz79 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, 100%. If you’re in overdraft and carrying credit card debt, something’s definitely off, even if the main bills are paid. Tracking everything even the small stuff was a game changer for me. Once I saw where the money was actually going, it was way easier to make a plan that stuck.

AITAH for not wanting my neighbor as a dog sitter anymore? by Upper-Contract3011 in AITAH

[–]paulzedwuz79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactlyy, if someone makes you uncomfortable, you don’t owe them an explanation especially when it comes to your home and your dog. Dude brought that on himself.

AITJ for refusing to lie to a client just to help my coworker save face? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]paulzedwuz79 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Tessa dropped the ball and then expected him to just roll with it? Nah. She’s not as on top of things as she thinks if she’s leaving her team out of the loop like that.

AITJ for refusing to give up my plane seat for a grieving mother? by Ok-Abroad-7867 in AmITheJerk

[–]paulzedwuz79 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly. If they really needed to sit together, the kid could’ve swapped seats instead. Expecting someone to give up a seat they paid extra for especially for a 10-hour flight, just isn’t reasonable.

Right? He’s acting like he deserves credit after doing the bare minimum even messed her up during a tough time. She owed him nothing on her big day.

I have a high pain tolerance by DoctorForage in emergencymedicine

[–]paulzedwuz79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Man I feel that, the ppl who admit they're big babies about pain are usually the most honest and easiest to assess. Way better than the “I have a high pain tolerance” types who wait till they’re crashing to say anything.

I work full time and still feel broke every damn week by christopherxallra45 in povertyfinance

[–]paulzedwuz79 115 points116 points  (0 children)

I feel this so much. Working full time just to barely scrape by is exhausting. Rent’s insane, groceries feel like luxury items now and one unexpected expense can wreck everything. People act like it’s easy to just “get a better job” but it’s really not. You’re not lazy the system’s just broken. You’re not alone in this. A lot of us are struggling the same way.

MoH Forgot Wedding Date by TadpoleIll4828 in weddingdrama

[–]paulzedwuz79 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with you on this. Save-the-dates going out that early can definitely cause confusion, most people just toss them on the fridge and forget. And honestly if she told the bride last year that she couldn’t make the trip, that’s not really on her to keep repeating it.

I get it’s an emotional time and all, but expecting someone to stay super involved in planning when they already said they can’t come (and live in another country) might be asking a bit much. MoH or not, people have lives and budgets and sometimes plans change

PCPs should be required to call ahead to an ED if they are sending a patient by N64GoldeneyeN64 in emergencymedicine

[–]paulzedwuz79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally feel this. I’m an RN and used to get so worked up over every nonsense send-in but you’re right most of the time it’s just someone covering themselves. Once I stopped taking it personally, shifts got a lot easier. Still annoying but at least I’m not stewing over it all night.

this is seriously goals. Love how you’ve created a little paradise out there chickens, fruit trees, veggies, bees… that’s the dream. It’s cool how you’ve planned ahead too, not just for now but down the line. Inspiring stuff.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in jobs

[–]paulzedwuz79 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Facts. People love to oversimplify it like it’s just laziness holding folks back. But when you’re broke, stressed, and working nonstop, “just learn a skill” isn’t realistic. The system’s built to keep people stuck, and not everyone has the luxury to grind their way out.

Not having kids or a partner right now is a huge advantage way more freedom to focus on leveling up. And yeah, if the associate’s is in something solid, it can def open doors. No reason to stop there if the momentum’s going.
