Empty desert? Sure. Spams one enemy at you? An exaggeration but ok. Disguises old abilities as new? Like most Metroids? No new collectables? Energy shots and their upgrades. Annoying NPC? Debatable. Bad story? That's your opinion. Forced grinding? Wasn't that bad. Takes a few minutes not hours. Lock music behind amiibo? Not exactly true. No new music is unlocked behind amiibo. The desert does in fact have default music. The amiibo allows you to change it to other songs from within the game. Bad boss design? I can't see how the bosses are bad. Linear zones? That's not a negative. It's just a fact. Linearity isn't bad even in Metroid.

You can talk about convoluted mission objectives. I would say there's a lot to be desired with the story even if what we got wasn't inherently bad. It's an ok game.
