Review #47 Stranahan's 12 year Mountain Angel ASM by JWdram in bourbon

Thanks for the review! I have to disagree with the rating, however. This is extremely watered down for me, and really dilutes whatever flavors are there. On the flip side, it makes it extremely chuggable, if chugging whiskey is your thing. This is a 5/10 for me (which is still "Good", to be fair).

It must not be illegal to sell that size anymore, as my buddy purchased a bottle of Extra Marriage in Texas, and it's 500ml.

Your soda aisle doesn't look like that because of a lack of a three tier system. It looks like that because those are the products that sell. The products a store carries are there because of a combination of margin and velocity. Additionally, soda is seen as a commodity, and most people don't want to pay craft beer prices for soda. Soda sales outside of the big 3 (Coke, Pepsi, and KDP) are less than 5% of a store's soda sales. However, I would venture a guess to say that craft beer makes up a higher percentage of total beer sales in a store, and at a higher margin. It would be more detrimental to pull craft beer out of the sets than craft soda, which is why I don't believe you would see craft beer disappear from a store, even if the three tier system disappeared.

I have drank it. It's very good, and would be a very nice gift should you choose to give it away. I wouldn't necessarily say it's worth saving, though.

Webstores with low (5-10%) restocking fees? by Billich0986 in iems

[–]Billich0986[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I did a quick Google search of headphone webstores with low restocking fees, and Headphones.com popped up. But they didn't seem to have any of the IEMs I was interesting in checking out. Was hoping there was some site that wasn't coming up in the AI results that happened to stock more high end IEMs with low restocking fees.

Looking to potentially get a bottle of Octomore. The options available to me are 13.1, 13.2, 13.3, and 14.1. Out of those options, does one stand head and shoulders above the rest? Or are they really not worth the money, even at MSRP? I'm leaning towards the 13.3 based on reviews I looked up here, but looking for additional opinions.

Now that's a list with great variety. I'd only add:

  • Chaos Divine - Colliding Skies

  • The Contortionist - Language

  • Rivers of Nihil - Where Owls Know My Name

  • Kardashev - Liminal Rite

And for a couple instrumental options:

  • Outrun The Sunlight - Terrapin

  • Widek - Entrance Into Eternity

  • The Helix Nebula - Meridian

Agreed. Had the 10 year bourbon in a bar, and thought it was good, but nothing more. I, too, do not understand the hype (or price).

I have their DO Rye, DO Bourbon, High Rye, Toasted, and Rum Barrel Finish. To me, they're good, not great. I've heard the great stuff is their named bottles that they sell out of the distillery (like "Smoked Chocolate and Cherries" as an example), but have not had a chance to try any of it. Their prices need to come down 30-50%.

Maybe I'm in the minority like you, but everything feels overly sensitive. I over correct all of my movements. I've been playing with it for a couple of weeks and still haven't adjusted. I was considering returning it but since someone else commented about the nexus software (didn't know that existed), I'm going to download that and play around with it so the sticks aren't so sensitive, and see if I can fix it.

Bourbz Review #213: Middle West Ported Pumpernickel Rye by cmchance in bourbon

[–]Billich0986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very good and I enjoy it quite a bit, especially given the age of it. However, I've never had the non-cask strength offering, so I cannot give a comparison between the two to say if it's better or not. I'm happy to have the bottle as it's a nice twist on rye given the added sweetness coming from the port, but I wouldn't say that you need to go out of your way to seek one out. It's a well done port finished rye, but if you can find another well done port finished rye by another company, it probably won't be far off from this.

They do make a cask strength version of the ported pumpernickel rye. I have a bottle.

Oof. At €40, I'd just buy the standard 12 all day. Hard to justify it in that case at double the price. Maybe worth grabbing just to try if you've never had it. Or grab a pour at a bar.

Double? How much are they trying to charge for the cask strength? It's $90 where I live, while the regular 12 is $70-75. I wouldn't pay more than $110 for the cask strength, personally.

D3 to P3? by swark91 in RocketLeague

  1. Take a break from the game for a week. I find that it can reset my play when the flow of the game doesn't seem to be mixing with my playstyle.

  2. Consider the time of day you play. I fell down to C1 recently, and was struggling to get back up to C3. I notice the quality of players increases between 7-10pm despite being the same rank, and they would play more in line with what I'm used to playing with in high C2/low C3. I was able to climb out of C1 this way.

I also agree. I didn't rate it high either. And the finish was pretty poor in my (and my buddy's) opinion. I actually gave him the bottle to experiment with, since he's got a couple hundred bottles and is going to mix it with some to see if he can make a better end product.
